Default TV Channels in setup keep reappearing

I have culled the channels in my setup down to a handful as Australian channels seem to have a few extras which are basically the same as the others.

So now i have the following channels in my setup
7 Digital
7 HD Digital
Nine Digital
Nine Digital HD
Ten Digital
Ten HD
ABC TV Melbourne
ABC2
ABC HDTV
SBS Digital 1
SBS Digital 2
SBS HD

Now when i go into the TV Channels setup for some reason all the other channels keep appearing there, even though i delete them, and hence now they are displayed in media portal when i go to change the channel.
How do i stop these channels from coming back after i removed them?

I am also trying to configure two cards in my media portal pc. ( i only have one setup at the moment) however i cannot find a way to rename the channels according to the relevent cards in the system. Ideally i would like to rename the above said channels like the following:

Card 1 - 7 Digital
Card 2 - 7 Digital
Card 1 - 7 HD Digital
Card 2 - 7 HD Digital

Can this be done and if so where can i rename them?

This is what I have done that might help you:-

Create 3 new TV Channel Groups - SD Channels, HD Channels and Miscellaneous

Assign all 6 SD Channels to the SD Channels group, all 5 HD channels to the HD Channels group and then the remaining channels to the Miscellaneous group.

Under the TV Channels tab, make sure that you only have a green tick against the channels that you want to appear in the EPG.

To change the name of the channel (for eg, from 7 Digital to Seven) highlight the channel an select "Edit"

Under the TV Cards tab, assign all the channels to both cards.

HTH ...

Thanks Taipan.
Ok now i have managed to remove the channels from the EPG, but i still see the channels when i click on channel in media portal. Any way to remove them from there?

I'm also getting gaps in my EPG data. For some reason 7 and ten do not have data in my EPG? any ideas?

Did you put the channels that you don't want to see, into the Miscellaneous group as I suggested above? You can then change groups (between the SD Channels group, the HD Channels group and the Miscellaneous group) within MediaPortal My TV. You will only see the channels of the currently selected group in MediaPortal - hence the reason for the different groups.

The name you assign to the channel must be the same name as used in the EPG (in the TVGuide.xml file) - this is how MediaPortal maps the EPG data for each channel to the particular channel.
