| Portal Member | Darrin, has someone asked you to pay for something, please elaborate as i was under the impression that you recieved MP for free. All the work done on it is gratis and the people who you and CurlySue are currently maligning are doing this in their own spare time for no reward other than the satisfaction of seeing something work. There is an option to donate if you feel that MP and the enormous amount of work done on it merits it, clearly MP does not work with your set up satisfactorily so you're wallett will undoubtedly remain closed. However remember that this forum, your downloads, developers costs all costs money. I'd suggest that your current tone will lead only to those developers who can help being less inclined to do so, have you tried different codecs, latest drivers, your card in another slot, a graphics card that is DX9 compatible, the list is very long and you appear to not have travelled very far down it. In my experience MP users need to be willing to spend that time and effort debugging our own systems to get to grips with the almost infinite variables that could effect each system, this is in fact part of the appeal for me, i like a challenge. Sure i'll ask for help from time to time, and sometimes it goes unanswered. That doesn't piss me off though it just makes me try harder, and i'm sure i'll never put in as much work as the developers have done. MP is Beta software and should be considered as such, its part of the pain and the pleasure, enjoy! Cheers m |

Country: | I appreciate all the hard work everyone puts into this program and the fact that it's all done for love rather than financial gain. However My comment was aimed at the fact that I was asked for additional info and when I provided it I heard nothing. My second comment was about the fact that someone had move a post from elsewhere which didn't really seem to have any relevance to my query just a link to the Paypal donations page which I took as a subtle hint. If that's not the case then I'm sorry but I could see no other pertinent information on it. As far as diagnosis is concerned I've spent more than my fair share of weekend troubleshooting PC problems for my self and for friends of mine. I have no problem with doing the legwork. The fact of the matter here is that the system worked fine with MP before I upgraded the hard drive to a bigger one. Everything else remained unchanged and I can get MCE and GB-PVR to play nice with the setup which leads me to the conclusion that the most recent version of MP might be doing something different as that's the only other variable. If Mediaportal needs a bit more power than it used to and my setup can't keep up anymore then that's fine, I'll just have to make do with MCE, it's not as flexible by a long chalk but at least I can watch TV on it |

It is now back to you to provide more information - describe the problem in as much detail as you can and tell us what you have already tried (video decoders, skins, what changed since it last worked, etc). The more information you provide, the more likely you will get helpful suggestions. Also, try to keep MediaPortal as standard as possible (use the supplied skin and video/audio decoders) to minimise any external causes. You might also want to repeat the problem and acurately describe the steps that you went through, and relate them to the events described in the MediaPortal.log file. For example, start MP, go to My TV, start to watch a channel, and then when the image disappears, close MediaPortal and attach that log. Keep the steps as simple as possible. I think that it is clear that there is something odd about your setup (as you acknowledge that you have had MediaPortal working previously) and it is very difficult for others to guess what that might be without some more specific clues ... | |

| Portal Tester | Hi, One thing you can test is to rename MediaPortal folder & re run the installer(windows controlpanel -> add/remove -> MediaPortal), then run configuration again -> scan for channels & use default BlueTwo & test again. Do not install any skins, plugins other then those that comes with MP. Then attach your logs to your post if it's still a problem.... Regards Roy |
