The streaming isn't done via rtsp in single seat... since the files are local.

@disaster123: because a udp to localhost shouldn't make any trouble.

It works fine for me, also when multiple users are watching the same channel (much better than the regular rtsp-stream). Sometimes I have the problem, that when one client is watching a channel via sharing and then a second client wants to watch the same channel via rtsp-stream, the streaming doen't work any longer.

It's slower here with my config (tested 1 Client).

Attached the logs.

no

Z:\MCE\RECORDING

Z:\MCE\TIMESHIFT

Opened up one channel, and one recording...

Client 2 (different hardware):
RTSP: about 3-4 seconds channel change
NO_RSTP: about 7-8 seconds channel change

I have to say.. The TVService is running on a Windows 2003 R2 SP2 PDC, all clients are connected to this server (using domain security)

The server is fast enough.. reaching 97% of 1Gb in taskmanager when copieing large files over the network.
Clients and server are all connected to an 1Gbps managed switch; and server has a raid5 setup containing 6xWDC Raptors

Previously I had the following problems on my remote client: video/audio sync problems, intermittent stuttering, slow startup and stop of recorded shows, problems with skip steps etc, but when enabling this - ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS WENT AWAY!

Truly - WHY is this NOT the normal way in MP???
Is there something that is missing with this config? (I haven't found any missing features yet...)

Thanks Gibman!

As you may see from other user reports, is not working 100% for everyone either.

In some cases stability might be worse than RTSP. We just dont know yet witch is better.

For me the problem is TSreader opening network .ts files----

Haven't tried this yet, but does this allow for comskip to work via multi-seat clients?

Channel switching works pretty well until it crashes. Seems a little unstable in my setup.

Mediaportal TV Server/Client RC1 SVN 19453
Windows XP SP3

Scenario 1: Watching an HD channel.... 5-10min in I here a Windows ding, which means MP crashed, yet the channel is still streaming.
Scenario 2: Watching a recorded show, press Guide, then select a channel, TV Server doesn't start timeshifting and MP fails to stream.

And I don't think comskip is working but I have to check my settings. I'll keep testing and post any changes.

Was able to fix most of the instability. However, I seem to get stutters at somewhat regular intervals. Maybe it has to do with number of files used for timeshifting? I assume the MP client has to switch between the sequential timeshift files...

Yes that's what I think... TSreader opening files on remote server is taking time, so when is in timeshifting and the file is change.. some times there is a litle pause.. If I see a recorded show of the same channel... There is no pause during all show
