Country: | I just don't understand why more that one file is needed?! There should be one file as a ringbuffer. Thats how mythTV is handling it and it works pretty well!

| Portal Member | How does MythTV handle it then when one client is paused for a long time, while e.g. two other clients keep on watching? The first client is probably disappointed when he gets back to his machine and finds his or her video gone?

Country: | The mythTV timeshift-buffer has a fixed size (that you can configure). As soon as ringbuffer is completely filled, myth unpauses the video automatically so that it does not override unwatched video. By the way, every client creates it's own timeshift-buffer-file but I don't know if they have changed something. The last version I used was 0.20

| Portal Member | Right, short after posting I realized exactly that: simply give each client its own timeshift file. Perfect solution! ![]() Forcefully unpausing the client is a neat trick too ![]()

| Such changes cannot be done for the 1.0 release as it would require refactoring the most critical part in the TVE3 side. Also please note that not so many users have reported such "pausing" when new timeshifting file is created. From the OS & HW point of view creating a new file is almost an instant operation so the file creation shouldnt be the issue here, but its something else.

Country: | How you solve this problem is not so important for me. I just hope I can soon watch TV for more than 10min. The problem is that I always have stop an restart the stream to watch TV again (for the next 10-15min).

![]() In other words as gibman has said this is unofficial way to use multiseat client and the team is not providing any support for the patch. If it works fine, but it doesnt then it just doesnt work. We definately arent going to rewrite the most critical component in TVE3 to allow some unsupported patch to work better on some systems as it could open a can of worms for all the users who arent using this patch.

Country: | At the moment I'm thinking of going back to mythTV. But I really would like to stay on windows. This changings between 2 OS isn't very comfortable.
