Default Twinhan Comhem

Hi,

I have recently built my own HTPC and installed mediaportal. Overall I am extremely satisfied with it, good work.

Yesterday I downloaded the latest svn build and got my tv working. Superhappy about that!

However I still have some issues. I have a twinhan cab-ci 2033 cable card.

1. Some channels work for a few seconds and then freezes (SVT and TV4)
2. Audio don't work on most channels. I use AC3 and output through optical SPDIF

If someone can help me with these issues I would be very pleased. Then everything would work!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Not much of a solution, but that exact setup works fine for me since a couple of svns. So, if I were you I would check signal quality first.

If you have the Twinhan software installed, does these channels work better there?

Have the same card and comhem and as with you, the channel switching between mtv / discovery (for example) and svt / comhem takes approx. 10 seconds instead of the usual 2-3 second delay. Sometimes it freezes as well but usually it helps to disable the timeshifting buffer.

My sounds works fine through digital SPDIF, havn't tried any broadcasts with surround sound though.

Motherboard: MSI

1. TV Card Driver: Twinhan BDA latest
Satelite/CableTV Provider: Comhem
HTPC Case: Silverstone LC13
Remote: Microsoft MCE remote
TV: LG42 PM1MA

Here are my details as I can recall them from memory. With the twinhan software i get sound working properly on all channels but I still have SVT and TV4 freezing after a few seconds. Signal strength is no problem judging from the channel scan.

You have two separate and probably unrelated problems here:
1) SVT and TV4 freezing after a few seconds
2) No sound on SPDIF

1 cannot be solved within the Mediaportal context since it also happens to the Twinhan software. I would think this has to do with the signal strength, possibly trying with a different (shorter and/or better quality) antenna cable could help.

2 sounds like an audio codec problem, which ones do you have setup for this in Mediaportal? HAve you enabled SPDIF passthrough on them?

I will try with a new cable then to see if that works. It is just strange that all other channels work perfectly. All the channels I really pay for works and the FTA like SVT and TV4 doesn't...

With sound it is even more strange since my ac3filter setup works perfectly with music, dvds and videos. It also works for SVT and TV4 until they freezes...

Did you do any special cinfiguration or did you just run channel scan and it worked?

Comhem scrambles the SVT and TV4 channels even though you don't pay for them. Proof for this is that without your card inserterd you won't be able to lock them, whereas the channel CH-kanalen is really FTA and would work without the card.

So you have sound for SVT and TV4 until they freeze, but not for any other channels? I understood your previous messages as you never had sound on TV. Anyway, I don't use ac3filter for my setup. I would need to know more about your setup regarding codec etc from the Mediaportal Configuration program.

No special configuration regarding these channels.

I will try with a new antenna cable first and also try different audio codecs. And there is always the new Tv engine that seems to be close now...

Thanks for your input!
