For a little while now I have been getting two entries in the Recorded TV screen when I record a programme. One is the usual one I would expect to see, the other is the actual filename of the recording. I can view the recording by clicking on either entry. However, if I want to delete a recording I have to delete each entry.

Instead of the usual 4-5 pages of recorded TV I now have 16 or more.

Has anyone else come across this? Any ideas?

I vaguely remember something like this a while back. You mention that you are running version 0.2.3. May I suggest you apply a recent SVN build to see if the problem is still there? My installation is currently running on SVN of 2007-12-20 without this problem. Then again - I am using TV Server, but I still think you should try.

Is it that the "Add recordings to movie database" checkbox in configuration, television, recording, settings is checked and adding them twice ???

You probably have all tv-cards record to the same directory. At least, that was the solution for me, that is, setting different directories for each card.

I have just looked and the checkbox is checked. I have now unchecked it and will see whether that cures the problem for future recordings. Thanks

I still have the problem with the recordings already made. Anyone any idea how I can remove the spurious entries? I would hazard a guess that I will need to edit using the SQLite Database Browser but I am reluctant to change anything without knowing how it works. Anyone know whether there is any documentation that relates to this in respect of MP?

Well, I do have all 3 TV cards recording to the same directory but this has never been an issue before. Is there a clear advantage to recording to separate directories?

None AFAIK, timeshifting to a different folder yes,

The rest of your Q's i have to leave to people who know.

Personally saw the option to "add" to Movie folder and immediaty selected no.

Mike have you found a solution to this problem???

I have had the exact same issue when I installed a new HDD and then changed the directory to save the shows to the new hard drive. (I changed each of the turner cards storage locations to drive e

Now in My Recorded shows section I get the normal show listing and then 1 with the actual file name as you described.

If anyone can shed any light on how to resolve this it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

Not really. I used to edit the database using Sqllite database browser found in the Docs folder. It was easy to see the entries which were duplicated as they had almost no data in most of the fields. deleting these entries put the Recorded programs right. However, my system was becoming more unstable and most times it crashed it created all the spurious entries again so I had to delete them all over again. If you try this back up the database first.

It got so that I was doing this 2 or 3 times a night so I have now reinstalled everything from scratch (starting with XP) on my second hard drive. I now only have the problem of getting all the TV programs into the database correctly. So...

THIS IS A CALL TO ANYONE WHO HAS MANAGED TO IMPORT TV PROGRAMS THAT HAVE BEEN RECORDED BY A PREVIOUS INSTALLATION OF MP. ....PLEASE, HOW DID YOU DO IT!

I used to get the two icons for recorded TV when I use to record to the root of the harddrive. Switching to record to a separate directory seems to have solved the issue. I had the 'add to movies database' cleared before and still got the two icons. Don't know if it was because I was recording to the root of the drive, or if because this was the same directory as the timeshifting buffer. Anyway, new recordings now only have a single icon for me.

If you are running TV Server(TVE3) there is something in the latest svn's that allow you to import recordings. This is the thread on it.
New feature: Import your former TVE3 recordings!
Again, this is for TV Server only.
