Sorry, I use the mobo's onboard video (GeForce 6150
As stated in a very long post previously, true HD 1080 needs at least a 6600GT or ATI equivalent to run without stutter when outputting.

There is another thread dealing with the new ATI HD 2000 series of Graphic cards, which need some feedback on these from real users, rather than reviews, but they may be a better bet (if ATI's drivers are upto it).

ps my dualcore makes no significant difference to HD playback, the video card i install does, if I go back to a 7300GS I get stutter, on 7900GS no problem what so ever.

I can only speak from my experience, I have run 1080p HD without any stutter (.ts stream VC1 encoded I believe) perfectly without stutter.

BBC HD (encoded H264) also worked fine when I used CoreAVC decoder, not with other H264 decoders.

My specs are : Asus Pundit with Gforce 6150 onboard graphics, 1gb ram, Athlon 3500+ EE.

Thanks for the advice. I'll go with the dual core cpu. For $70, it's hard to say no.
As for the video card, I think I'll wait & see what happens with the hardware decoding solution from the main page. I've only got a couple hi-def files anyways.
