| I have looked through the forums a little bit and it looks like you can use the new DTV receivers that have the usb jack. Do I just hook up a usb from the DTV box to a usb on the HTPC, or do I have to convert it to serial? Also, I am using a PVR350 card, I assume I use the SVIDEO connector? I have only had cable tv up until now and it just ran right to the PVR350 and I had the card tune the channels. Hopefully I can still use MediaPortal to watch and record tv now that I have DTV. Any help or advice is much appreciated. Glenn |

| It looks like it is possible to use the USB port to control channels using a usb/serial adapter and a null modem. I can't find any info on how to connect this though. Does the usb/serial adapter go into the usb port on the DTV receiver and the null modem cable to a serial port on the computer? If anyone can help, please let me know. Glenn |

Country: | Netgear, along with a few others, make an USB to Serial Adapter. You will also need a Null Modem Cable. With this combination you connect the USB from the adapter into the DirectTV box, mine is a D11, and then the null modem cable from the adapter to the computer. You have to have serial ports on your computer for this to work. Although, in theory, if you had another USB/Serial adapter, you may be able to use it, but I haven't read about anyone doing it, nor have I done it myself. After that you will need the plug-ins for MP. I have tried several different ones, and have luck with most of them. Hope this helps.. |

| Well that didn't work. I am wondering if it is my usb adapter. Are there only certain brands that work? The one I am using works on my laptop with my GPS, but I don't know if there are differences. Any particular brands I should use? Also what does the baud rate need to be set on com1? I thought I read somewhere that it should be set to 115200. I tried this, but still nothing. I am connecting to a DTV H20 receiver. Anyone out there have this receiver working with Media Portal? Glenn |

Country: | It's a bit late but I have configured a H20 to work with the serial tune plug in. I used a IOGEAR GUC232A usb to serial converter and a generic null modem cable. For the plug in settings I used D10-100 from the drop down and I had to check "use channel set" in the advanced options everything else was set to default and it works like a charm I'm just posting because I did a search and couldn't find any info on the H-20. Hopefully this will help anyone that comes looking. and I should mention that I have an H20-100 |
