Synopsis::

When I look in the setup area under Video Codec for the Movie Player I only have three options:

Mpeg2Dec Filter
DScaler Mpeg2 Video Decoder
CyberLink MPEG Muxer

I have the Divx, Xvid and ffdshow codecs installed on my system and they can be seen by other programs. Why can't Media Portal see them?

I have tried removing and reinstalling the Media Portal program, 3 different version (RC4, RC3 and Oldest version 1.0.3) all with the same results. Video playback is great if I use an External Player, but I want to use the built in player.

Please help.

Hi,

this setting is only for MPEG playback.

For other files like AVI (DivX, XviD). Windows takes automatically the right codec. ffdshow in your case. So nothing to worry about.

The built in player should work without problems. If there are any, please describe them.

HTH, Flip.

Default Status

I retested and I was able to get video to display and play correclty using the original 1.0.3 version of media portal. Based on that I went ahead and installed RC4. Now when I try and play the same media file it asks if I want to resume where I left off. I click yes, and then nothing happens - the mouse cursor goes away and that all. If I move the mouse I can move around the screen and click on menu options without any problems. I also changed the "on-top" options, but it didn't make a difference. The video file I am trying to play is a divx file located on a network storage device. Is the RC4 not compatible with videos playing over the network?

Default second test

I went ahead and reinstalled FFDshow. - still no video
tried with a local file - still no video

video playback works fine in all other players.

Uninstall FFDShow and grab a proper Divx/Xvid codec. Personally I think its a terrible codec but each to their own. If you try it not using FFDShow we can at least attain whether its the problem or not.

Hi,

I think that is your main problem:
Video Card Model: Sis 740 (32 MB)

MP uses DirectX9 and VMR9 in the latest version. You card is not capable for doing that, sorry.

Flip.

Default video card compatability

in that case i guess i will just put forward a feature request for those of us with a non directX fully compatible card - the ability to pass a playlist to an external player. in the meantime version 1.0.3 works great!

keep up the good work.
