Question Video ok, Sound in fast forward

TV-Server Version:

Satelite/CableTV Provider:
HTPC Case: HIPER
Cooling:

TV: Viewsonic VX2835wm
TV - HTPC Connection: Sub-D

I had similar post to this in the German forum section: TV Bild ok , Ton im Zeitraffer

When I switch to specific TV channels, sometimes I get normal video but sound is distorted like "fast forward". The effect is reproducable, but not always present (seems like the TV station switches sound data). When I record a short peace (ts format) and play the file in MP, I get the same effect. However, when I play back the recorded file in MediaPlayerClassic, the sound is fine.

Using GraphEdit I found that the big difference is that MPC uses a different (internal) splitter. Does this indicate that the effect has something to do with MP's ts splitter?

Try using ffdshow or MPA as audio codec. Cyberlink audio codec is known to have issues with live tv.

Hi,
just installed ffdshow_rev_1945_20080417_clsid and configured MP to use ffdshow as audio codec for TV and videos.

When playing the recorded file, now there is NO sound at all.
Same is true using MPA Audio Decoder in MP.

In GraphEdit, the file renders fine (sound is ok) with both MPA Audio Decoder and ffdshow Audio Decoder.

So I think this is not an issue with the Audio decoders. I still think it has something to do with the splitter.

Try using Filmerit to see and correct any errors (padlock symbol unlocks).

I checked the system with filmmerit, bit it reported only few (5) errors which seemed not to be related to any of the used codecs. Still I decided to create a restore point and let filmerit automatically correct everything. Now, magically, I can playback the recorded file and get normal audio. Strange.

However, using ffdshow or others as audio decoder still results in NO audio at all, so the file must contain something that confuses audio data extraction.

Is there a simple tool that I can use to analyse and find the difference between this file (.ts format, recorded with MP) and others that play fine?

graphedit or gspot (not sure ts) will check most path's, gspot may even play the file, or try VLC just for playback testing.

Reclock: No, never.

After the modifications I made with Filmmerit (see above) now live TV hangs after a few minutes. I am not clear if this is is an independet effect or not, but I didn't have this one before. I'll put an extra post on this.
