Default Video Playback Skips

Hi,

First of all I'd like to say how fantastic MP has become. I have been using it since V1.02 ish and it has now become a very stable product indeed. So, compliments to the team for their efforts. Now, on to my question ....

I don't think this is an MP issue, so I won't fill in a template yet, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and whether they have managed to resolve it. Basically, when watching video playback (recorded tv, dvds, avi files) using various codecs the playback will just skip to a total random part of the video. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it.

If no-one else has experienced this I will see if the log has anything in it, but my WAF goes down enough when it happens without me saying "ooh let me just check the log for any error. I'll just be 5 minutes. Honest"

Anyway, thanks in advance, just in case.

Andy

My System

Default

Hi Andy,

I had this problem as well - for me, it turned out to be the mouse.
I had a mouse installed with a very sensitive mouse wheel, and this wheel could produce a "scroll" from time to time without anyone touching the device. This scrolling is interpreted as a video "skip" in MediaPortal.
You can check this by yourself, just start a video and then use the mouse wheel (of course only when you have a wheel mouse installed). If the "jump" is what you have experienced, you know what to do: plug out the mouse! MP is all about remote controls...

Hope this helps.

In my case this very (annoying) problem was solved by removing my wireless keyboard and mouse receiver, turned out it was picking up stray signals.
