My System

Default Video stops for about 10 seconds and then starts up again?

Area: Media Portal Program
MP Version: 0.2.0 RC2 With Latest CVS
Skin: Blue2
Windows Version: XP PRO SP2
CPU Type: AMD +2800
Memory: 1GB DDR
Motherboard Chipset: BioStar
Video Card: Gigibyte fx5200
Video Card Driver: 81.98
Video Render Type: VMR9 - renderless
Video Codec Type & Version: Nvidia.. and others
Audio Codec Type & Version: Cyberlink or nvidia

I have been having an issue where the video will stop and the audio stutters like 6 times and then quits. The video is paused this while time, and then after about 10 seconds of no audio and the video paused, the audio comes back on. The video says paused until it comes back into sync with the audio and continues to play. I have experienced this with live tv along with recorded shows. Here is a small log of the time frame in which this has happened.

The only time I've ever had this happen on my machine was if I was copying files off of it from another machine on my network. Otherwise I've never had it happen by itself.

Do you have a dedicated HTPC or is MP running on a machine which is used for other things as well?

Don't know if what I had was the same, but shortly after 0.2rc2 release I suffered similar issues across both TV and Movies. I have similar h/w to you (notably graphics card)

I was close to giving up completely on MP (after over a year of happy use!) as a result of this, and looking around for alternatives

As a last resort I upgraded my graphics card driver to a recent version (mine was about 10 months old), and the result was little short of miraculous! Substantially improved performance across ALL elements of MP, and all video lockups gone completely.

Hope this helps in some way
