Default Video's & DVD's will no play??

MediaPortal Version:
Windows Version: XP
CPU Type: VIA Esther 1500Mhz
HDD: 80gb SATA II
Memory: 512mb DDR2
Motherboard: VIA Epia EN1500
Motherboard Chipset: VIA CN700 Chipset
Video Card: onboard VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP
Sound Card: Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo
1. TV Card: Kworld DVB 220T

Hi all, I am using Media Portal, which i have used before on an Epia SP13000 with no problems but i seem to be having difficulties with the New EN15000 board...

i am using WinDVD 7, which plays DVDs outside of Media Portal No Problem, but Media Portal just says unable to read disc?

Also MP will not play media files off the hdd or CD, it doesn't seem to make any difference what format they are in...

if you click on a file in My video it does nothing at all no errors nothing...

i have tried various different decoders and i am completely stumped...

any suggestion would be gratefully recieved..

Crashed...

You are experiencing this problem because VIA do not support thier hardware!!!

Your VIA EPIA CN15000 uses the CN700 chipset with intergrated MPEG-2 decoding! This is all well and good and can be used by software decoders using hardware acceleration such as intervideo WinDVD7 and PowerDVD SE. The problem lies in the driver intergrated graphics proccess. The driver does not support DirectX 9 DXVA Deinterlacing and this is an important feature of both Microsoft Media Center Edition 2005 and MediaPortal. if you have MCE2005 installed then you can download a diagnostic tool which will help determine if your machine is capable of supporting MCE2005 this is available from the Microsoft website.

Windows XP Media Center Diagnostics Kit v3.0

Sorry mate you can either wait for VIA to support it's own hardware or put your SP13000 back in which I know for a fact support MCE2005

I've fallen into the same trap, having just bought a Jetway J7F2 and supporting hardware. I've contacted VIA and Jetway; if they have anything useful to say I'll post it here.

Is there anything that can be done in MP to salvage my otherwise wasted savings?

Perhaps MP can do the deinterlacing itself? Would this be a viable solution? (no pun intended!)

I know the devs are busy but I thought it would be worth asking.

Thanks,

Keflon.

I asked VIA if they intend to support DXVA deinterlacing on the CN700 in a future driver.

VIA passed the buck to Jetway. Jetway politely informed me that they use VIA drivers and therefore it is not in their hands.

I've asked VIA again and I'm told a response is on its way. If it's anything useful I'll let you know.

Having looked around the VIA arena forums, I wonder why VIA are avoiding the question?

Keflon.

In case anyone finds this thread and is having the same problems, there may be an answer!

I have a Jetway board and had the same problems, some applications would play video (Media Player 11 with DirectX9 butten enabled) but nothing else would work.

Just downloaded the latest Via drivers and the video now works fine with all applications including Media Portal!!!

I think the link is

Enjoy!!!
