Default Viewing .VOB files

I have most of my dvd's ripped to VOB files, I have been using myth but want to switch to windows for HD-DVD ... So far Media portal looks very promasing but I can not for the life of me get it to play the .VOB dvd files. if I direct click on them the play just fine in Power DVD but Media portal sits there...

Please help

Hi,

do you also have the *.ifo files ripped?
Do the *.vob files play in WMP?

Flip.

Yes I have added .vob to the extentions folder ... and yes it will run in PowerDvd ... I get a black screen if I try to run it in Media poral. The VOB file is a single large full movie file. I left the other files behind nor do I need them to play in Power DVD nor did I need them in Myth tv. I have also tried to run it through an external movie player... someother media files work fine but the VOB's do not ...

Please help

You will need to get them playing correctly in WMP. MP will use the same codec as WMP. You might need to use filter manager or something similar to see what codec .VOB files play with by default and change it to a working one. If you are able to change it to the same codec Power DVD uses, then that will fix the problem for you.
