Most of the Plasma / LCD tvs arent actually having native 24p support, so the stuttering and other oddities can come from that direction also.

Well, I know for sure that my TV has native 24p support, so that's at least one thing I can rule out. As I said it's not only a problem of sharp frames progressing in a stuttering fashion, there's something else to it (the flickering "ghosting" at the edges).

This is great.. The fact we are making steps in the right direction is awesome, as I thought I was just being nuts about the whole thing.

Let me ask..

for VMR9

do you guys have Gausian Filtering and Non Square Mixing turned on or off?

As I have it right now .....

Haali Splitter.....
Input buffer size doubled to: 16384 used to be 8192

MP Settings....
I got Exclusive mode on with both Guasian Filtering and Non Square Mixing.

Nvidia Settings..
Vsync - Forced On
Multi Display/Mixed GPU Acceleration: Single Display Performance mode
Adjust Video Color Settings> Enhancement > 1% Noise as per the previous suggestions.

I will test with these settings and my specs listing in my prior post.

I will post my findings hopefully tonight.. Let me know if someone can atest to these settings

So i got to test last night, I must say I did notice a better fluid picture without Exclusive mode and vsync off. However I did not notice anything weird with it on and vsync on. The only reason I prefer vsync off and exclusive mode off was during shots where they panning side to side, it looked a lot smoother. I might just keep it this way.

But don't you get tearing when disabling v-sync and exclusive mode? For me it varies between different video files, but regardless off whether I disable one at a time or both, I always get tearing in some videos. The only way for me to get 100% no tearing in all video files is to enable them both.

Tried two x264 encodes (720p, 1080p).. no noticeble tearing... in either case. However more fluid without.

Do not think the 7900gs chips suffer from some of the other ones problems, ie it will quite happily not produce tearing of video, have never used exclusive mode myself since upgrading, just found it a pain, whereas my 6600gt caused tearing without exclusive enabled.

Has either of you installed .net3\3.5 and tried using EVR instead of VMR9, just a thought.

I would also very much like to use EVR, but I have always gotten tearing when I have tried to get it to work.

I tried EVR tonight (just to see what would happen), and it seemed to work fine for TV and avi files, but when I played an mkv file it crashed MP. Not sure if it is the mkv container, or the content.
