Hi have been running MP for a few months now on Windows MCE and then formated and changed HDD and installed Windows XP Pro (no need for that unstable MCE now I have found MP! ;-)) I was expecting a fight to get my remote to work but it worked straight away in MP for about 1 day.. THEN the volume controls stopped working! :-( The red led on the remote reciver flashes but MP doesn't respond I have tryed checking that MP Remote Mapping is still default but this made no difference and I have uninstalled MP and deleted the directory then done a fresh install and again no volume in MP. The keyboard shortcuts work still ("-" and "=").

I have not got a clue what I have done so has anyone else come across this or any idea's what it could be? I have searched the forum for the problem but have not found one post about it so I guess its just me!

Regards

Zas

the volume controls are hard coded in XP to control the system volume (AFAIK).
Can you check that if you use the volume controls on the remote does the system volume change? If so, then it is an issue with MP somewhere, but I think it's most likely that the volume controls have somehow learned different codes.
Remember that the volume and TV power buttons can learn TV remote controls so maybe they have somehow learned a different code and need to be reset.

I'm having the same problem. I have removed MP totally (uninstall + delete program folder), but the volume buttons doesn't work. I use the MCE remote.

When I use the remote "outside" MP, it has no effect on the sound in Windows. When used inside MP, I can mute the sound, but not the volume controls.

then it sounds like the problem is that the keys have learned another remote. Do you have the manual? There is a procedure to reset the remote to factory settings.

@Zasurus, can you confirm if the remote controls the Windows volume or not (IE when MP isn't even running)?

That will make a big difference on where to look. I'd also suggest ignoring unhelpful posts by people who don't have4 anything better to offer ;-)

@Soundytim, please, what's your problem? Don't post at all if you can provide anything even close to help.

Hi Zas

Check your windows default sound settings....make sure that your sound-card is selected as the default sound-playback device.

Cheers

I am also suffering this problem, only when i upgrade to 0.2.2.0. So if someone thinks this is a problem with MP and needs me to check anything, let me know!

Thanks

Same problem without MP running. I am Running XP Pro not Media and I didn't think the remoter worked at all in it but when I installed MP and it worked fine I didn't do anything else. When I just tested it without MP the arrow buttons work to move around buttons in windows and the PC power button brings up the shutdown pc selection window (like clicking start - shutdown) which I can then select with the arrow buttons BUT the volume button still doesn't work. :-( And outside of MP the mute button also doesn't work.
