Default Weather - 2 things

2 questions regarding weather:

- weather is not more updated automatically when I enter the weather screen. I have to press "aktualisieren". I preferred the old way of MP doing that for me ...

- wouldn't it be nice if I could select which of the additional weather animations I am going through? For example I am havin' URL's for Satellite, Temperature, Wind and Humidity. I am not havin': UV and Precipitation (whatever that means). But when switchin' through the anumations I am havin' two empty ones. I would like to have an check box in the settings to determine which should be flipped through and which not.

thanks+regards

wewe,

I have noticed both the issues you mention, and agree.

My Weather does not display any information when I first enter the screen, it displays 'question mark' pictures everywhere. I have to hit "Refresh" to get it to load the weather information. I would also like it to refresh automatically when I first enter My Weather (or, when I first start MediaPortal).

I completely agree about the additional weather images. I would prefer that if I have no image attached to a weather map, it skips that particular map. Here's my suggestion:

Allow users to select how many additional images they would like to use in My Weather. Also, allow users to specify what they would like the image to be called.

For example, I like to look at an image which is the snowfall forecast for the next few days. I would like the ability to be able to call this image "Snow Forecast" instead of having to choose one of the hard-coded options that are available at the moment.

Allowing users to select how many images they want, and name the images, would be a great improvement to this already excellent plugin.

Cheers,

Ashton

That's odd - I am running the latest release (with yesterday's SVN) and whenever I go into My Weather, it automagically does an immediate refresh....

I can't see how it could be, but I wonder if this is related to the skin you are using... :?

Not as far as I can tell... I get no automatic refresh using either BlueTwo or MCE. The only difference I can see is that when I use BlueTwo, I get a circling 'refresh' type graphic in the center of the screen *after* I hit refresh, then it displays the weather. MCE is the same, except it doesn't have the circling graphic while it refreshes.

This is on a fresh 0.2.0 install. The log doesn't seem to give me any information about the refresh, it only logs when I enter and exit My Weather.

i think you have to wait like 2 min for it to show the info i get the same thing if i wait it shows up but if i press refresh it shows up faster. also if u press weather then go back to the main menu then go back to weather all the info is there you can do this very fast and it will show up as fast as you do it.

I just tried the weather plugin (with 0.2.0 release) and in order to see the forecast I MUST refresh!

I get no weather info after waiting for ten minutes. I guess eventually the autorefresh interval will pass and it will refresh itf you wait long enough, or have a short enough refresh interval.

I read this in another topic, it does not work for me.

I am on Release (without SVN) as well. I don't know when it changed. Maybe it was already in one of the latest RC4's ...

I second ashtonauts requirements. Would be a good thing to be flexible.

But on the other hand MP must be to use as EASY AS POSSIBLE. Maybe a complete flexible method would be too complicated to setup for a ncf (no computer freak). So if we keep the 5 images and just add a checkbox to switch them individually on and off and maybe change the presented name of the individual animation would be nice.

thanks+regards

strange, my weather refreshes automatically whenever I go into it. Always within the first few seconds and the info usually only takes about ten seconds to grab (depending on what else is happening with the net connection at the time).

I also think that the labels for the images should be able to be configured by the user. It could use the default settings but you can click edit to change them. This would be no more difficult for a noob to handle than it is now and most noobs won't even delve that deaply into the menus anyway.

I updated to 0.2.0 + Stable update patch 10 July 06, and I still have the problem.

I am happy to do more troubleshooting on this issue if someone could suggest things to try. The log doesn't seem to show anything, so I'm not sure what else to try...

I agree with this. Have 5 or so 'default' image names, with the ability to re-name the images, and the ability to turn the image off if you don't want to use it.
