| It mentions in the FAQ that MediaPortal will automatically turn off MCE services. I do not want to use the TV functionaility in MP, just audio/DVD/video etc. I want MCE to continue to record my scheduled programmes and run side-by-side with MP. I don't have any of my TV cards configured in MP. Will it still stop any of MCEs services on startup? Thanks, and keep up the good work ![]() |

Country: | Not sure whether MPtray kills MCE services or MediaPortal itself, think the first. easy way of testing setup a TV recording you do not want and when it's recording, use MP. that will answer your question.

| Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried this, and yes, opening MP appears to kill the Media Center services required to record TV, teminating any current or future recordings. Can I request that this be fixed in a future version? The logic being, if I have no TV cards configured, that MP leaves the Media Center services alone on startup? I'm sure I'm not the only one to use just some of MP's functionaility, and for a first-time user it must be frustrating to see all your scheduled TV failed to record because of MediaPortal. Thanks ![]() |

Country: | Why using a MP / MCE hybrid, this might lead to other problems. There are many ex MCE users who are now happy MP users and who will never ever go back to MCE. I'm one of them. Just take the time to make MP work with your TV tuner, can't be that difficult since they already work with MCE. MP also allows you to run more tuners than MCE without having to hack the register. I'm running 3 x Analog Hardware and 2 x DVB-T, works like a charm.
