Default who has a working RC4 and PVR350 setup?

Hi all!

I am looking for MP entousiasts that could inform me a working RC4 and PVR350 set-up.

Since I decided that the possibilities on configuring the MCE remote from within MP were a good reason to do a clean install, I have not been able to get the TV function to work. As in many of the threads that are in the forum on this issue, these focus on the problems they encounter. I suppose I am doing something wrong, or have forgotten to add a driver, tick a box I shouldn't have or anything else that doesn't make MP do what i would like it to, to watch and record TV.

My main request is if someone would do me (and the others still looking to find the answer to their related problems) a favour and inform a working setup for me to compare where I have gone wrong.

I found some entries in the MP logfile that wonder me a bit, as it informs there's no format in the video capturing device as is mentioned below.

I hope to hear from you soon. If any additional information is required, I'll post it.

I have a perfectly working PVR350 with RC4 (and all SVN).

I am not sure what is wrong in the log but I don't think you have the correct CODECs selected.

Hauppauge themselves use Intervideo Non CSS Decoders for Hauppauge.

I don't think dscaler works with PVR350 since it is a hardware card and I think in dscaler's own site it MENTIONS that it doesn't work with PVR350.

Make sure you have the latest drivers from shspvr.com.

Finally, I am not sure why you still use SP1... SP1 is old and obsolete. SP2 is considered a major update and I know of software that NEEDS SP2 to work (maybe Hauppauge drivers also).

Any relation to this guy? ->

Hi,

mine PVR 350 also works with RC4.

The error messages have nothing to do with the PVR 350 not working.
DScaler* surely works, but you should consider to give MPEG2Dec and MPEG/AC3/DTS a shot.

But I think NLS is right with SP1 being the main reason for MP not working correctly. MP uses the stream buffer engine from microsoft to record to dvr-ms. This technology was introduced with SP2.

* NLS its for decoding, not encoding

I had an issue with my PVR-150 card and RC4. At the end it turned out it was due to my installed Elecard Codecs. When I de-installed these My TV worked correctly. See also other seperate thread about this. I am not sure if this will help you, but I thought I can mention it anyway though. I've heard of another person who had also an issue with Elecard Codecs installed.

I am also using 350 w/RC4 - had some issues with the TV, but not very often (blank screen). I am not using a dedicated machine, so I belive my issue is related to "codec hell"

NLS,
I read this article, but I didn't upgrade from win2k to xp in the mean time ;-)

HenryM,
I also read your questions, downloaded the tool you wrote about, but it didn't find that many codecs I had expected to find.

FlipGer,
Dscaler I tried as well, but I'll see what happens after updating into SP2.

I'll let you guys know if this is what failed.

I'm happy to see the quick response on my questions, as I've been using and following MP since release 0.1.x when I read an article in C'T about MP in the Netherlands. I've been advertising MP eversince with my collegues and friends, who claimed MCE was the better software to use untill they found many of the hardware they used wasn't supported initially.

Good luck and please let us also know, if it works.
If it does not work, post your whole log. You can use Pastebin for it. And describe your problem a little bit more detailed (what does not work, sound, picture, tuning, etc.).

@NLS: Please note that there are two DScalers:
a) TV application
b) MPEG2 decoder

The TV app does not work with the PVR 350. The MPEG2 Decoder does.

What you choose in MP setup is the MPEG2 decoder, which is used to decode the MPEG2 stream delivered by the TV card. All MPEG2 decoders should work (MPEG2Dec, DScaler, nVidia, InterVideo, CyberLink, Hauppauge)*

Flip.

* But some produce problems, depending on the system (Elecard)
