This is a strange issue that I have only noticed in the past couple of months.

I have 2 different PCs (they are entirely different hardware) that are dedicated to MediaPortal. Both of these PCs will normally take less than 2 seconds to go to STANDBY mode.

But:-

1. If I have MediaPortal running, and I have been watching live TV, and I return to the home screen and then put the PC to standby, it will take from 20 to 40 seconds to complete the standby process ...

2. If I launch MediaPortal and do anything except watch live TV (I can listen to music, watch a DVD, watch a recording, etc.), return to the home screen and then put the PC to standby, it will take less than 2 seconds to complete the standby process ....

I have been trying to find out why watching live TV causes MediaPortal to then delay the standby process by 20 to 40 seconds. There is nothing in the MediaPortal.log file to indicate what the issue might be (the last entry is at the same time that I pressed the standby button - there are no entries during the delay period).

Can someone give me a clue as to what might be causing this, or some pointers as to where I might look, or a tool that I could use to find out what Windows is doing for those 20 to 40 seconds?

in anticipation.

EDIT:- I should add that this 20 to 40 second delay occurs on both MediaPortal PCs that have completely different DVB-T cards, so I would be surprised if it were to do with the manufactrer's BDA drivers?

Only a guess, either Directx or graph not playing nicely and shutting down prior to standby quickly, like a game when you close\save, it takes ages before it does it.

Still think we have some graph problems to overcome.
