WLAN buffering ?

I have a problem that I can not seem to resolve.
I am lacking a 10/100/1000 connection to my media PC and rely
heavily on my b/g 54Mbps WLAN. The problem is that streaming
media, especially video, over the WLAN is causing it to be less than
acceptable due to transfer lag, the sustained transfer rate is just
not good enough to keep e.g. video unaffected and sometime
it becomes very jerky eventhough connection is 100% good.
So, my question here now is, is it possible in MP today or could it
be added in a near future, a feature to force buffering of media
streamed over the network? E.g. if MP would detect a networked
share it could give you the option to buffer data for a few seconds
to minimize the effect of WLAN disturbances.
Or are there any other ways I could get this buffering in effect?

If I have read it right, the new music engine will do this (only SVN at the moment). For Video, this will probably come along with the new TV Engine, because then it will be a real Frontend/Backend solution. The last part is just guess, though.

Thanks. Could someone from the development team verify if a buffering
feature will be added to video similar to what has been done for music
in a near future?
(I checked the latest development build and buffering has been added
to music as you said).
