5.1 setup

how does everyone connect up their surround sound to their media centres? im looking into receivers but theres so many out there.

I think most of us use S/PDIF, most recievers support this.

Yep,

I use a coax cable from the PC to my Sony receiver.
And then I use MPA and MPV codec to pass all AC3 and Dolby straight to SPDIF.
It works like a charm.
The only problem I have is with DTS movies... as the sound stutters
