Analog channels on tvserver in Australia

I thought I might mention this in case it helps anyone else. The basic problem was: after a reboot, the analog channels on my Hauppauge WinTV PVR refused to work. Just static and no sound.

I tried restarting the tvserver, a few more reboots, but no luck. After some fooling about, I discovered it was only the UHF (31, SBS) channels that had a problem, VHF worked fine. Both VHF and UHF channels were configured with just a channel number (no frequency).

Turns out the solution was simple: in the tvserver configuration tool, explicitly set the frequency on UHF channels and reboot. Tv Channels -> (Channel #) -> Analog -> Frequency. Shazam - the channels show up again. You'll find some Australian frequencies listed on: wikipedia As an example: I set the channel 31 frequency to 548.25 instead of the default 0.0.

The problem is only with UHF channels that have a channel number and no frequency, VHF works fine with just the channel number.

Hooray - now I can watch Santo this Friday!
