Question Does anyone have TVE working nicely?

OK, I've been playing with TVE (latest SVNs) for about two weeks now.

I just got a Technotrend S3200 DVB card which I'm using with a T.Rex CAM and a smartcard. In TVE it just doesnt play nicely at all. When scanning for channels the TV service quite often dies half way through the scan. It takes a long time to change channel and when it does it quite often hangs. By contrast the TT-mediacenter application that was supplied with the card changes channels within a second - even to encrypted ones that it uses the CAM for. Even MCE changes channel quicker than MediaPortal.

I've done so many clean installs, re-installations etc. and I'm really gettting nowhere. I'm just wondering whether I should return this card and perhaps get a FloppyDTV. Has anyone any experience of both cards and how TVE behaves with them?

Hi Joystick

Thanks for the reply. What sort of channel change times does it give you?

approx. 2-3 sec. on scrambled channels with different transponders.
On same transpoder it's faster, around 2 sec.

I just tried the Technotrend card with just MediaPortal stable release (no TVE) and channel change times are much quicker. Updated to the latest SVN and its now stuffed. The card is going back

Yep, I'm using build 17500 and it's rock solid. I have 3x DVB-T tuners (2x nebula digitv and 1x avermedia) and a firedtv DVB-S tuner and they all play all happily and it never crashes and I record several things on a daily basis using multiple clients. I'm more than happy with it. Channel changes for me are down to roughly 1 second when switching between them, with a 2-3 second change when switching from terrestrial to satellite and vice versa. The only thing I'm not getting along with is trying to get EPG for my sat channels.

Well my FloppyDTV S2 just turned up so I'll give it another go.

# Update

All seems to be working nicely now (with a SVN from yesterday) with the FloppyDTV.

A few minor problems that I need to find solutions for but not many:

1) Can't use the power button on MCE remote to suspend PC because PowerScheduler won't wake it up
2) When switching to live TV the screen will show the Windows desktop for a couple of seconds while it initialises the tuner and then it switches back
3) Some 4:3 channels don't fill the screen (LCD 16:9) even when stretched. They have thin black bars down the side, not all channels just some. Is there anyway to make these overscan a little?

Otherwise it's a marked difference from using the Technotrend card. Let's hope it stays that way

I have noticed 1 problem which really bugs me:

When playing back a tv programme from recording that is still recording it, the progress bar never updates itself. The timer for the length stays the same as it was when I first start playing back the recording, so eventually the current time passes this and I can no longer skip forwards or back properly the first time I try it.

Must say i am using Vista atm, but also seemed to be working ok with xp with a TVE3\svn from about 12 days ago.

You should know if its Powerscheduler putting pc to sleep, because it is not instantaneous, does take a few seconds before it goes to standby.

might be worthwhile using MPTestTool from START menu to get logs.

You also need the S3 in MP config\general to be enabled.

Well after a few days of it not recording scheduled jobs, I switched to VMC and although it's not perfect it does seem to be reliable
