Country: | Media Portal Ver : 1.0_RC3_rev20432 TV Server Ver : 1.0_RC3_rev20432 (with overlay of -svn-09-14-2008--15-54-Rev20227.rar) CPU : AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Memory : 2Gig, DDR2 1066 TV Card : HD Homerun (Dual Tunners, ATSC) MB: Asus A8N32-SLI Delux Audio : Reltek AC97 Audio (PS: I know my gear is dated, I just wanted to see if I could get this stuff working before I went out and blew a lot of money) I am new to this so please forgive any errors that I commit. I recently (about 3 days ago) pulled down media portal & installed it (1.0_RC3_rev20432). While trying to set up the tv server for ATSC channels, the scan would find no available channels. I went to the forums, and found that the current work around is to us the TV Server module from a previous build (-svn-09-14-2008--15-54-Rev20227.rar). I downloaded & installed the TV Server module only (following to the best of my ability the instruction in the section describing how to load svn's), and now my TV Server does in fact scan the ATSC channels. I can view the channels within the TV Server config tool, and every- thing seems to be ok, but.... When I run mediaportal, it does not seem to be aware of what I have done in TV Server Config. There are no channels visible in the mediaportal, and I cannot watch TV. Can anyone guess what I may have done wrong, and suggest a course of action? Last edited by Gozic; 2008-11-09 at 18:41. Country: | I tried using RC3 with the specified version of the tv server. It was my understanding that the trick was to just apply the svn from Sept 14, but only the TV application. Is my understanding incorrect? Should I load RC2, and then upgrade fully to the SVN from Sept 14? Last edited by Gozic; 2008-11-20 at 02:05. |

Country: | I also read the posts that claimed you could use Server RC2 with Client RC3 and tried it, but couldn’t get it work. I installed RC2 of both the server and client, with the September 14 svn on each, then it worked. |

Country: | I'm the guilty party who suggested using MPrc3 with the TV Server rc2 (Sept14 svn) ![]() What worked for me was this. - I had MP and TV-Server RC2 and SVN's thru Sept14 installed and working. I saved a copy of my setup to my desktop for easy retrieval, both MP and TV Server folders plus the MP and TV Server folders from my user data folder (just in case). - I installed rc3 MP and TV Server (not deleting the databases) and did the whole setup, except for scanning channels (since I knew it wouldn't work anyway), exited config then stopped TVService. - I copied the rc2 (Sept14 SVN) TV Server folder I had saved previously into my Team.MediaPortal folder overwriting the rc3 TV Server folder. Started TV Server config to restart TVService. - updated to latest SVN of MP snapshot only, not TV Server snapshot. I have had no issues thus far with MP rc3 and TV Server rc2 (Sept14) working together. Hopefully, rc4 will have the bugs ironed out, but can't check it until rc4 is released. Hope this is helpful. Country: | How do I get copy of RC2? I really would like to get Media portal working. It looks like a great program. Just out of curiosity why go through all the effort of updating to RC3 if RC2 works? BTW is there any word when RC4 will be coming out? Is it sometime within the month, or are we talking several months? |

Country: | Looks like there are only about 3 outstanding issues... the dev team has been pretty aggressive this week with the fixes. I don't think it will be 'months'. I think rc2 (Sept 14) can still be downloaded from MediaPortal SVN-Snapshot:-09-14-2008 15-54h - Revision:20227.rar ... just don't report any bugs... the dev team has moved on. There have been some nice updates to MP in rc3 (check the ChangeLogs), other than dealing with the broken TV-Server, there was no reason for me not to update MP, although some Vista users weren't having such a good time. Country: | Ok, I now have channels, and for the first time I am able to watch live TV with Media Portal ![]() But.. I have no TV guide (I can't see what is on the differenct channels) any clue what I might be doing wrong? Sorry I am having so many problems? I have used two other applications, and I have not run into these kinds of issues, so I am not sure if I am just missing something or what??? Is there an actual installation guide? |

Country: | I don't know if there are other resources, but I'm using Schedules Direct .... a pay service ... reasonable cost. There is a plugin to set up MP TV-Server (TV3) to use the Service, after you have registered on their website. Schedules Direct US/Canadian/Mexico EPG Plugin (Updated 10-01-2007) Chuck |
