Hi Guys,

I did an installation of the latest svn's (both MP and tvserver). When using the MPV and MPA codec the first channels played smooth, but when changing the channel everything goes wrong. The image gets blocked/corrupted and finally it hangs. This also happens with ffdshow and dscaler codec.

Im using a Technotrend C1500 for waching tv with the latest driver from TT website.

If logs are needed please ask...

Thanks

Hi Guys,
I downloaded latest SVNs (RC1 0.2.3.0, TVServer and Plugin) and installed

- Opened TV on Canale 5 ok (Hotbird freq 11919)
- changed to Italia 1 ok (Hotbird freq 11919)
- changed to Rete 4 ok (Hotbird freq 11919)
- changed to Canale 5 ok (Hotbird freq 11919)
- canged to Rai1 MP Crashed (NB Hotbird freq 11766!!!!!)

In other works, it worked perfectly (in 1-2 secs I'm able to chage channel) with channels with the same frequency but crashes when I change frequency.

Hope this can help.

Ciao

PS: many thanks to Frodo and the MP team for your fantastic job!!

Still a lot of problems :-(
Pretty weird, since it works ok here, so back to the drawing board
Did you guys also test playback of normal .ts files with this filter?

Hi Frodo.

I did not test the playback of ts files via MyVideos (if it is that what you mean). But I will test it this afternoon/evening.

Bye

I have tested the new tsreader and it works much better for me. If I create the useTsReader.txt file and I restart the TvService and MP itself I can skip back and forward and only normal things occur. It works fine for both recordings and live-tv. Changing the channel works also fine.

With the other reader I had huge problems. If I skipped there was only 2 seconds sound and a still video frame. I had to switch of live tv in MP and switch it on again. Recorded tv and changing the channel had the same weird result.

I also tried the new reader on the remote MP on my laptop, but I didn't succeeded yet.

There is a problem left. Sometimes, after some minutes looking to recorded tv, MP freezes. There's nothing left then killing MP.

Here is my configuration
- Asus S-Presso with Intel Pentiium 4
- Onboard video Intel
- Freecom DVB-T
- DScaler video and audio
- MP V0.2.3.0 RC1 + SVN 15067
- TV-engine SVN 15070

Keep up the good work

@Frodo:

Is this new filter also supposed to address the problems many people have with stuttering and freezing playback (log: play=>repaint events)?!

These were discussed some times in several threads and as far as I am aware it seems to be a problem of stream errors that caused the demux=>decode=>render process to stop.
(It has become better for me after switching from PV to MPA/MPV codecs, but still no real fix)

Maybe this filter helps here too? (Though question if it really is used when recording to MPEG2, instead of TS)

Hard to say, if that stuttering is caused by dropped data packeds in the stream then there isn't anything that software could do to fix it. For example Nvidia mpeg2 decoder drops those damaged frames and MPV shows corruption on the screen if the data loss is not too big.

Freezing could be caused by some bug in the older TSFileSource.ax filter (or MS demuxer) that we are currently using and might be fixed by the new TsReader.ax, but it could be caused also by some 3rd party component. Fox example older versions of quartz.dll are known to have freezing issues on some systems. Make sure that you are using the latest quartz.dll when testing old/new filter.

One possibility to try to track down this freezing issue is to provide a .ts recording (made with tve3) that is causing freezing on your system. Then we could check if it's causing some issues on the other systems as well.

It's only used for .ts files, not mpeg recordings.

I tried the tsreader on the remote client as well, but then I don't see anything. It only results in a black screen. I assume that I have to put useTsReader.txt on the remote PC as well. I installed the latest SVN of MP (15067) and TV-service (15070). What did I do wrong?

Frodo has already commented that the new tsreader won't work in a multi-seat environment. Wait a few days and multi-seat users might be able to test the new filter out then...
