Just noticed something interesting, sometimes when changing channels after having watched a channel for a long time Mediaportal seem to freeze. But I found this in the logs last night:

Code:
2007-11-21 00:07:12.937500 [Info.][MPMain]: TsReaderPlayer:seekabs:146648379999 start:122841730000 end:146648380000
2007-11-21 00:08:29.625000 [Info.][MPMain]: TsReaderPlayer seek done:1
What is that all about? Is it seeking within the timeshifting files? I'm running with default timeshifting filesizes and I hadn't timeshifted(i.e. paused) or anything when this happened.

I have the same problem ... i thing TsReader loose his position when the timeshiftfiles are too many times recycle.
On my system when its happen my mp hangs (its show so) and after 1-3 Minuts mp starts with the beginning of the timeshift file.

Default Aspect Ratio problems, disabling tsreader.ax

Hi,

with newer SVNs (and thus changing to tsreader.ax) a problem regarding the aspect ratio appeared here:

After some zapping, aspect ratio for some channels is wrong.
I use a 16:9 screen, PC resolution 856x480
Restarting Mediaportal will temporarily fix this problem.

Has anyone seen this problem too?
Is it possible to disable tsreader.ax, to test if this helps?

Nice regards,
Markus

I don't know if this issue has to do with TsReader or to whole TV3...

I'm using ffdshow raw filter as postprocessing filter (for deinterlacing). After switching to SVN 16542 from 16098, when you switch from regular MPEG2 SD channel to a H264 HD one, ffdshow gets disconnected (I can see connecting to remote graph with graphedit)... What's more, when you switch back to a regular MPEG2 SD channel, ffdshow doesn't connect again. Same result if you start TV with HD channel and switch to a SD channel. Tried with Rebuild graph on audio and video specs change and without it. Tried with Cyberlink and CoreAVC (1.6) as H264 decoders... same result.

I attach log file of a zapping from a SD to a HD channel. I also attach error.log... It seems has nothing to do with the issue, though.
Attached Files
File Type: rar MediaPortal.rar (9.6 KB, 0 views)

BTW... I'm very impressed with smoothness using last CoreAVC 1.6... I could't get this results with 1.5 or any Cyberlink H264 decoder version!

peque, what do you think about the picture quality in CoreAVC 1.6? Is it same or better than Cyberlink?

I think fffdshow is not supported with tsreader.ax. Tourette (if I recall correctly) has stated that earlier in this thread (or if it was in another thread...). And since the new SVNs does not support the "old" tsfilesource.ax your only solution is to go back to pre- 16140 SVN to get ffdshow support again.

That's true, but only affects ffdshow as decoder filter... TsReader has never let connect ffdshow as video decoder filter, but no problem in connecting it as post processing filter... In fact, there's no problem when you connect Live TV... But after zapping between channels with different specs, ffdshow gets disconnected and it doesn't connect again under any situation (only TV off / on) ...

I could try with other post processing filters to see if it's ffdshow related or not... but I only know ffdshow... and what's more, I've only get perfect deinterlacing with kernel bob inside ffdshow... so I REALLY need ffdshow as decoder or as postprocessing filter.

I don't really appreciate difference in quality watching still images... it's just much smoother in quick changing images (action movies, etc...) than any other filter that I've tried.

Are you using MPV video decoder? Please try other video decoders.

It is a known bug. Suggested workaround is to increase timeshift buffersize so no recycling will occur. MP doesn't freeze, it just reads through the timeshift files a few times before seeking finishes, as described in this post:
