Question I'm lost what should I use .TS or .MPG?

Hi to all

I'm lost what should I use .TS or .MPG?

What are the differences?
What of both is better?
I have try to find information on WIKI, but I don't find it

Can anyone give me a good information¿

Hey iosub,

basically your good to go with either of them.

The advantage i see in .mpg is that nearly every PC can play that files even without MP being installed.

The advantage i see in .ts is that it doesnt need to be converted into .mpg when timeshifting / recording so it may need less resources.

But again, no big deal which one to use, both will work and quality is the same

The TS file will also have both audio streams and the subtitle stream included the MPEG doesn't have all this information.

There is also a little cpu overhead for the MPEG file compared to the TS File.

Hi,

U can also use VideoReDo Plus (http://www.videoredo.com/) to edit the .ts files if U wan´t to clean them up (or just encode to mpg) before burning to DVD. It´s very simple editor for .ts files.
