Country: | I've had to switch back to the non server media portal because it just wasn't stable enough to use everyday and my pc is used as my main source of tv viewing!! Its really quite annoying because most things worked ok for a bit but i updated to the latest tv server and i cant view tv at all now!! I'm sure it wont be long before its a full release, and i for one can't wait!! |

| I switched to the beta because I had problems with the stable release but the new tv-engine isn't really usable for me too. Sometimes it works great but often it just freezes. I still hear the "click" sounds if I use my remote but nothing happens on the screen until I reboot ![]() Thats too bad because I switched from MCE because I hated it (really slow music library, couldn't get spdif to work after 2 month) - but the tv worked great ![]() |

Country: | You could actually help to speed the process of improving the stability by posting detailed descriptions of the problems you have experienced, with logs, so the developers can reproduce the problems and fix the bugs. Or, would you rather just sit back and wait for someone else to do that work for you? |

If I thought for a second that the devs needed more people posting problems and filling bug reports I would. Instead I spend my time learning to create skins and getting comskip and comclean to work!! This is supposed to be a friendly and fun forum where people can share their experiences and all work together, and there is no need for insulting people!! By the way I did notice that you have portal tester under your name. maybe you should be more incouraging and less demanding and we would all benefit!! |

To be of most help to the developers, the problems/bugs need to be described with sufficient detail to allow the developers to reproduce the problem - the more information, the better. Quote:
I read your first post as a grumble about a beta product that needed input from users to improve the stability. But that you had decided to abandon the product until someone else fixed it, and then you would try it again later? Did I misinterpret your comment? Did you also notice how many postings I have made, how many bugs I have logged, and how many people I have assisted with MediaPortal?

Would you like a medal or a chest to pin it on? Seriously, drop the attitude. With posts like this, do you really think you're going to ENCOURAGE people to help?

The only reason I have stopped using the tv server is because my HTPC is my main source of television viewing and with out a useable version of media portal installed I can't watch tv!! I am 100% behind this project as I have tried every other media application including Myth TV (Linux) GBPVR, and I have a legit copy of WMCE that I abandoned because media portal is far better. Basically what I am trying to say is the I concider myself a part of the Media Portal community and I'm not just in it for the free software, I actually want to do my bit, I have even been trying to learn how to program using Visual studio express C# so I can understand the workings of media portal!!! So in answer to your question, I don't want to just sit back and let other people do the work, I want to be involved and a more integral part of the development of Media portal, I just feel useless because I don't fully understand how media portal works!! Appology accepted now give me a hug!!

| like Taipan already said, if you really want to help then install the tv server again (best is to hold 2 installations of MP on your HD, one for testing, one for every-day-use) and make some bugreports ![]() regards |
