this sounds like a very cool "tool".

on the other hand i wonder if it wouldnt be better if we could get a few more helping hands on MediaPortal 2 where we have planed this functionality as a core-feature.

the more ppl working on it the earlier we will have it ready.

Surely using this thing creates the same problem of trying to share the database between multiple clients?

Default MediaServer supporting NAS devices?

Hello,

I am using Mediaportal 1 RC2, and is trying out the MediaServer.651 extension . However I cannot get MediaServer Configuration to accept my shares. They are located on a NAS device (QNAP-109P) in Public folders (that is, no password is required to access the files - and this is confirmed in windows explorer). The NAS is on static IP 192.168.1.52. On the network the NAS is knows as SOL.

I have tried using \\SOL\Public\... - does not work (I get a dialog window with title "Share Error", and message "Unable to share directory"), but that is also consistent with your descriptions, that says, that machine names are not supported). I then tried \\192.168.1.52\Public\... - does not work either. I that tried to map \\192.168.1.52\Public to Z:, and the used Z:\... - that does not work either.

To be sure, that something works, it tried with C:\..., and that was accepted.

So my question is - does MediaServer support shares located on NAS devices, or does it only support shares, that are located on the local harddrive?

Thanks in advance, and 'thumbs up' to you and Team MediaPortal community for your excellent work.
