judging by the freezes every time it gets slightly busy, I would say it is not written multi threaded. I think task manager lists it as having several threads though (19 for media portal and 23 for the service when I look now)

ok thanks, I guess I would be better of with a faster dual core- than a slower quad core, then.

Well I have had over 75% cpu usage (TvService.exe) on a dual P3, if Multithreading (SMP/SMT) wasn't working then I wouldn't be able to go above 50%.

You would be best investing in faster disc subsytem, Hardware raid and better GPU.

Hi,
Thanks for that, but I am just replacing MB, RAM and CPU- the rest I have, for the amount I have set aside for the CPU I can chose either a 2.5 gig quad, or 3 gig dual. As for the GPU, I want to clarify, as far as I know it is irrelevant to my set up (though I could be wrong), as it is a server only (I watch on other PCs). Thanks again.

Default Please

Please could someone just give me a definitive yes or no answer- does this software support multithreading? Surely those who wrote it must know?

Sorry for kind of hijackin this thread, but in case it does not work multithreaded would it be an advantag to
bind mp on one core and tv server on the other core on a dualcore system? Have read that sometimes games
that do not support multithreading would run more smooth this way.
