Amazing! You saved me too! I was tearing out what hair I had left for months trying to sort this out. I have now upgraded to 1.0 RC1 and with this fix to the ip address it works a dream. Thank you so much.

OK... sorry to bother all of you, but:

I tried this fix with the 1.0RC1 server version. MP on client will crash unexpectedly. Tried the MPTvClient 1.2.5. It will connect to the DB, then starts VLC correctly and tries to open

rtsp://192.168.0.102/stream4.0

IP is correct. There simply doesn't seem to be data on the stream. As there is no error on opening the stream, I guess it is there.

Can anyone come up with an Idea, what could be wrong? Server and Client are Vista Ultimate 32bit with disabled Firewalls (router has one, but only configured for Internet connections). I am really desperate as I would also like to watch TV on my PC in the office room!

thx for any help in advance.

btw: I do not get any errors in the logs!

you could as last effort try and replace the streamingserver.dll on tvserver

see my manual in my profile on how to install tvserver on XP.. and locate the part how to replace the streamingserver.dll ..

good luck

Hi!

thanks for your quick reply... As I understood the streamingserver.dll was only a fix for XP. I am using Vista...

Now I found out something extremely funny: It seems NOT to be sufficient to simply disable your Firewall in Vista, since Vista handles different Firewalls (since SP1?). You need to go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools -> Windows Firewall with extended Security and disable the Firewall completely here. After that I was able to connect manually to the stream with VLC. But when starting VLC through MPTVClient still no luck, it won't display TV.

Perhaps this might help someone else, too!

Would the fixed streamingserver.dll help me in terms of VLC being directly able to connect to stream instead of manually connecting after stream was started?

THX

no problem, fix is not only for XP.. could help you with Vista aswell, if you rename the streamingserver.dll to streamingserver.old you can always go back to the old one. and there is no risk in trying ?

in sp1 there are actually 3 firewalls.. same as in Windows 2008 server..
even do you say you disabled them, it cant hurt to actually allow mediaportal.exe or tvserver.exe access true the firewall .. again .. this shouldnt hurt the installation

since you are able to connect, I would try replacing streamingserver.dll .. but.. I must admit.. i didnt need to do that anymore using RC1... so .. you might have some other problem, can you post your logfiles.. made with the included testtool ? maybe we can see the problem in there..

are u sure this is the correct address?

rtsp://192.168.0.102/stream4.0

i often get stream1.0 or stream2.1 and some others also.

i know u can check the address when watching tv, but u cant check it this way, try to see if there is something in the logs.

I am quite sure, as I can connect to it with VLC after a while and video is displayed. The thing is, I used the override in SimpleTVClient because it was not working before... Now I removed it, and everything is working just fine, so it was the Configuration of the Firewall(s) on Server machine (Vista)
