Thank for you answer diehard2,
I agree with you, but I think for user that use singleseat there is no big problem. Maybe the best way is to allow user to manually increase/decrease the bitrate for the best stability/quality ratio. TVE3 is very stable ( with TVE2 I've always suttering) and I can't go back to TVE2, so please help us. Regards, Vince |

sorry for the delay - didn't see that theres was new posts in this thread. Im not able to test it at the moment as I just reinstalled my system (and only got to the bare necessities). I will ASAP test 10000-12000 VBR, (was going to do it anyway as Im having audio artifacts again after installing a newer svn).
@diehard2: btw didnt know that 6000 was the average when setting 6000-12000, thanks for clearing that up. I thought the average would be around 9000. regards Martin |

Just thought I'd throw in my 2pennies: I've followed the advice in this thread and changed my settings to 10000 CBR and so far the quality difference is very noticable to me, the improvement is excellent, almost on a par with going directly from the STB to the TV.
I'm a very happy bunny! ![]() |

I changed the CBR value using GraphEdit, not by changing the code, which was what was originally advised in this thread, I'm assuming this has taken affect because it looks better to me or I'm going mad!

I know other people have had problems keeping it saved, but for me it appeared to work fine, I set the value, clicked 'apply', then 'ok', exited graph edit, went back and it was still correctly set.
I started MediaPortal and watched tv, exited, went back to graph edit, still set correctly, I then shut down and restarted the tvservice, watched tv again, went back to graph edit and it again was set correctly. The only thing I haven't done is rebooted the machine yet and checked that the value has stuck, which I'll do this evening. |

tried setting vbr from 10000 to 12000 and it seems that you are completely right diehard2, first the stream begins to stutter very badly and in the end it freezes completely. Im going to test 8000-10000 instead to see if that is better.
Regarding the the average are you (diehard2) sure that setting vbr 6000-12000 doesn't yield an average of 9000? The function is defined as SetVideoBitRate(min, max, vbr); And finally: would it be possible to set the audio at 384 instead of 224 as it gives some really bad audio artifacts on my and other ppl systems? I recompile tvlibrary.dll each time I install a new svn build to prevent it. regards Martin |

Hi mba,
Its nice to have verification, although I wish higher quality was possible. You can ignore whatever the function says. I wrote that, and just picked poor names. I'll change the audio quality. |

then you must know what you are talking about when you wrote it :-). Thanks for changing the bitrate on the audio permanently. How difficult is it to add these things as settings in the configuration of the tv card? I haven't got a detailed overview of the system yet, only fiddled with minor settings like the bitrate so I cant be of much assistance.
I played a bit with the bitrate :-), and it seems that I can get a stable system with about 8000 CBR, but I haven't had it running for a longer period yet. @chemelli "where is the CBR settings ? I can see only VBR values in the code" If you look at the function SetVideoBitRate(min, max, vbr); the last bolean parameter tells whether its VBR or CBR. regards Martin |
