I just discovered that this params are not taken into account by a software encoded card like mine HVR-4000, so it was only suggestion that quality improved changing them.

Diehard2: In TVE2 there is an option called "Disable dynamic noise reduction" for Hauppauge cards. How is it possible to do this with TVE3? (Or is it "ticked" by default?)

Hi Spragleknas,

that option was for a driver version that was given to me. I'm not sure if it was ever released.

Sorry for posting on this old thread, but I read all the 8 pages and still cannot find a solution.
I tried with graphedit but after restart the values are reset to 5000.
Is there any solution to increase the capture bitrate for hauppage PVR500 cards ?

Hi milanp

Thanks for bumpin this thread up to surface. Didnt notice it before, Since Im in process of shifting for tve3 on our livingroom system this subject certainly have my interest,

Looking at my cards with different tools (ie. via graphedit) I too notice the cards (PVR500+PVR150) showing 5000 as the bitrate.

But looking at recorded files with MPEGid showed me that the video streams was actually at 8000 or very close to that.

I then used the MPtail tool posted elsewhere on the site to have a closer look at whats going on in the logs and to my satisfaction I noticed here that the Hauppauge cards is set to 6000-8000 vbr.

So...
even though the result being around 8000 is not the 10000 I normally get from TVE2 Im pretty satisfied with that.

Dont think my use will actually be too affected by this reduction.

But well Im not the big sports fan or action movie freak anyway

8000 it is then

We dont like stuttering.

The tests I' ve conducted on the "production" machine so far, whenever I managed to direct girlfriend and kid elsewhere, looks really ok to these (old) eyes.
