Question Recommended OS for TV Server???

Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on the best OS for TV Server? I'm currently running Vista Ultimate but am considering rebuilding back to XP because I seem to have problems with zapping and because the time for my Hauppage card to start under Vista seems longer than XP was.

What do you guys think??

My vote is based on the two or three months that I used Vista. In the end I decided to revert back to XP.

Yes - a lot of the technical guru's will tell me that I did not spent enough time to tweak/fix my issues with Vista, but if you go and read professional reviews regarding the upcoming XP SP3 and Vista SP1, it still seems that XP is a better option.

I am running TV Server on Win 2003 Server. Have not had an issue at all. Not much if any tweaking required. Note that I do not run MP on this machine and is my main server for everything else I do. Zapping is quick as (1-2 seconds) and that between SD and HD channels as well

I'm running single seat on Windows 2003 and another client on Windows 2003. Works fine.

BKCH - can you add 2003 as as option to the poll? Seems like a few members are using it and I think we would all like to see the real results on this one.

Hi all.

I am using :

Windows Home Server
MS SQL Express 2005
2 x Avermedia Nova-T500MCE Dual DVB-T tuner cards with MCE drivers ( yes it works )
Big_Kev's Oz Tv Guide Downloader

No issues to report. All ok except for the usual probs with SVN's.

note: MP not installed on this machine. This is only a server.

cheers
