TVServer vs MediaPortal1

Hello,
i've started to use MediaPortal1 just one week ago. Could anyone tell me please about the main differences between TVServer and MediaPortal1. I'am planning to use MediaPortal on a single PC, so i'am not sure that a need a server. Is the TVServer better?

Hi BadMojoX.

Do you plan to use Mediaportal on a dedicated HTPC. Or do you use this PC mainly for other things?
The only potential "disadvantage" of the TvServer is the need of a database service in the background... On a non dedicated system that might be annoying.
Beside that the TvService is already very stable and even on a single seat config the first choice (from my point of view).

I'd also like to add that some people using analogue TV-cards stick to TVE2 due to PQ. Worth mentioning: There is a bigger chance that your TV card is supported by TVE3 than TVE2

CU Lars __________________ Using a wide screen and tired of changing the aspect ratio via remote all the time? Use the ViewModeSwitcher Plugin and everything is working automatically. Are you able to find your home in MediaPortal? Yes you are! With the WorldMap plugin!
