Default Feature Request

Firstly allow me to congratulate all the contributors to Media Portal, an excellent Media Center package which surpasses, by far, other open source and commercial offerings.

I am excited to hear that MediaPortal II is under development and thought I´d let you know my opinion and put in a feature request.

The core model that you´ve decided on I think is an excellent idea, that way, non techie users such as myself can have a fully stable core product, although with limited funtionality, and advanced users are able to tinker and tailor the application with the plugins they require.

All the techie stuffs sounds great too by the way :-P

The main feature request I have is regarding dual channel support for recordings, asuming it´s not already on the drawing board. In MP, although the audio channel can be selected whilst watching LiveTV, any dual channel recordings don´t allow the user to switch the audio stream. I assume this is because only one stream is recorded. It would be great if this functionality could be introduced in MPII.

My sincerest congratulations

Best Regards

I have a quick question relating to MP2, i'm just wondering if it may be possible?
Could there be anyway of say configuring MP2 so that you start up some music and its playing out of what ever
sound card you have configured for it to play on , but also then load up say TV when it gets done so that the tv is using a different sound card, so essentially music might be coming out of one set of speakers in one room and still having sound come out on another set of speakers in the main room?
Almost like 2 zones on an amp
What do you think?

Hi guys,

Thanks for your time and effort on this great program. I have a few hours a week I can donate if it is needed would be willing to design a skinning tool if I can.

P.S. I have an idea for MPII, if possible can you include a direct show graph creator so we can create graphs for certain file types and media streams instead of having 1 filter does all.

Yes, although the first alpha release (codename infinity) wont have an configuration application with
menu editor yet. You can still make this possible by editting some xml files.
Offcourse an easy configuration application with menu editor is planned for a later release

Not yet. we're aiming at the mainstream htpc community where 99% of the users have a single audio card
That said, this might be added later on

I think you can do the last thing now, just choosing audio-renderer, if I remember correctly (a friend did this).

ok, one thing that I need answered is the database that you will be using for your backend....see, i have multiple HTPCs all being served from an unRAID server, which is linux based NAS offering a pseudo raid for 1 drive failure. Now the database backend will only require a database (or multiple DBs if necessary) at a single location, in this case, my unRAID server. No server software would need to be running where the database is stored correct? and each htpc with Media Portal will have access to that DB and keep everything in sync?

edit: a little OT but is this how media portal 1 works? Been wanting to try MP1 again w/ the new Xface skin! will i be able to centralize everything? going to use it w/ ati 650 tuner card, compatible?

Thanks
