Infinity will not be feature complete and it will be surely missing things you might expect
Its purpose is to get feedback from both endusers ,skinners and developers to see if we are heading in the right direction
So dont expect that Infinity even comes near MP 0.2.3 for now

In my opinion this is better. A fresh start will always be less feature rich.
Start slowly slowly fixing bugs and stability/performance issues and then moving on feature rich add-ons.

Okay I was reading this earlier today and first now I got the time to reply and I’m just about to ex-plode..! This is great news!

Some friends and I have this plan to build a media server together, and by that I mean that we have a server where we keep all of our music, movies etc!

From here we will use MP clients to connect to this server and then stream the movies, music etc.

Will this be possible in MP2??

It could also be nice to stream it over the Internet (secure connection of course) from server to cli-ent.

If this is something you will implement, then also have in mind of mounting ISO files on the server before streaming.

In this way you can have a server at home and multiple clients witch do not have to be so power-fully. It only has to receive the stream.

Got my idea?

Another thing I was thinking about.
Instead of searching the directory each time I enter my videos or my music as now, will there be a better implementation of database, so searching will be a lot faster?

Again with my network description above in mind, that you don’t have to update from IMDB on each client but only at the server. (Of course you need some kind of cache on the clients).

At last: use the threads in forum talking about the my tv plugin design (wife-safe), to get ideas to the design of MP2.
Max 2 click before watching tv, videos, pictures, movies etc.

What do you think?

this is what i have here since ~2 years

on the MediaPortal HTPCs i just connect some networkshares and this are the sources for MyMusic/Video/Pictures.

i personlay do not like terms like "wife-safe" or WAF......
everyone of use wants a solid and easy to use solution, not only wifes. or am i wrong there?

hmm mabey its just me then.. just think that its some times is lacking when the animation of videos somes in?

For this new version, why not to be use mono framework? wiht mono, MP-II can become the first multiplatform home-multimedia-center...
