Country: | Frodo, you, and the rest of the team, is making the "boring-everydays" so much more enjoyable for a LOT of people, like myself. The thing is that [insert your preferred word here]-users like threadstarter is yelling out their complaints so much louder than us "happy-and-grateful-users". There will always be idiots (NOT saying that threadstarter is one - you be the judge of that yourself), and some of them will take the time to enter a forum to complain - no matter if it: a) is a FREE software that b) is made by geniuses that work FOR FREE in their SPARE TIME, and are kind enough to release c) a TECH. PREVIEW for the community to play with ... please don't let those people be in control of MediaPortals future.... for Gods sake, we are soon to be rid of Bush - this is not a marathon, people! And last, to everybody making MediaPortal THE BEST HTPC app. - in the world: THANK YOU!

Country: | Being in network support myself, I know from experience that you usually only hear the people that are not happy. And even if you hear others, the ones that are not happy are always louder than the rest. So, for once I'll join the people above and make sure you also hear from the happy people ! Thank you very much for developing MP !!! I've been a happy user from shortly after you released the first versions. I cannot believe the amount of work you've already put into this. |

Country: | I am sure Frodo does not/did not intend this to be a "Thank You" thread, but for what its worth, My heartfelt thanks. My own system is pretty modest, and I drive it pretty hard having set it up to serve a simultaneous PC and HTPC role. Media Portalis pretty easy to set up in this fashion, and it just WORKS for me, and always has. Few tweaks as advised around here, and everything goes as it should. I am amazed at the number of "help me, and if you don't help me in the next 30 minutes I will throw a tantrum" threads I see around here. A professional paid team wouldn't put up with it, and nor should the volunteers here. Most of the information needed to set up a system which works as described, does what it says it will, and remains relatively stable is here if only people would take the time to search the forums. I have only recently installed TVE3, as I did not previously have a tuner card. Took about 20 minutes and up she went. I am of course chasing the perfect picture, but it seems to me that any flaws in PQ are unlikely to have anything to do with MP, and lots to do with the signal quality at point of entry to the syste, TV card used, decoder employed to interpret the picture and Video card displaying the pic. None of that is in the hands of Frodo and the boys, and yet most complaints I have read around here are in relation to some or all of the above. From my experience, the TV Server does its job of delivering TV to my TV screen, and to any others on my wireless LAN I care to connect, and it did that in as I say 20 minutes. Sorry to be longwinded, but I think some people complain from a position of immaturity or lack of knowledge. A little politeness and gratitude on the forums would be refreshing at times. |

Country: | Huge THANK YOU to frodo and the whole team. You are amazing and I think people like you deserve to be treated with much more respect then you get from some "users". A word to those some "users" - GET LOST and don't come back. You don't like the system, stay in your little box and never show up, so no one can see your negativity. Pay money if you want to demand quick fixes. |

| Portal Member | MP2 infinity doesn't work well at all on my HTPC. On XP I couldn't even find mediafiles until it crashed. And on Vista it works little better but crashes a lot. But then again it's just preview. I remember first year of MP and it was like that first, slow and unstable but things have gotten better the whole time. On XP it works really well already. I had busy last 6 days when I tried to get MP1+TVE3 to work correctly on Vista. Now after finding some stuff the hard way, it's running as well as it did on XP. I want to thank people on MP-IRC for giving me ideas on problem sources. I can't get current MP2 SVN to work either (it compiles but running mp2 just causes crash) but I'm still really looking forward on MP2. When it gets polished, it will have everything MP1 lacked. So big thanks for the whole team from here too ![]() |
