| Swifty, Don't hold your breath, the team has a lot of work to do on MP2 before even considering the TV3 engine. I started to take a look but most of the code is beyond my level of undertstanding... I did post in the general section asking about how things will be taken forward, but no response to date. If you're looking to get something working, i've had resonable success with VLC and Twonky (VLC 0.9 has some limmited support for BDA now so you can drop a transport stream to http and add the urls to the twonky playlist files or some other upnp server if you prefer.. ) trouble is not all channels are on the same transponder and I haven't found a way to change the transponder remotely. Works if you just want to watch a couple of channels though.. I use my PS3 for that... maybe one day sony will add udp multicast or rstp to the PS3... yeah maybe..

Country: | I prefer the focus on the HTTP support over UPNP since thats the only real support the dedicated clients support. I have several Philips streamium devices that I use to play media content in my home from my UPnP server plugin for Mediaportal I. However the holy grail of watching live tv streams over these clients is something worth fighting for ![]() If I can use all my decoders encryptions cards inside my tv server and wacth live tv and all shared recordings on all screens in my house, its just excellent, not to mention the control power it supplies to parents. Your childs tv does not have a tuner but a upnp client that shows only channels that you approved as for recordings etc tc. And these clients cost around 100-200 euros depending how advanced you like them. I cant wait for Mediaportal II fully based on the UPnP standard where possible, but I pray that the live tv streams support is going to be UPnP based also.

| Hello, so I just can underline the request. I don't want to have a big PC in my living room. I have some nice small uPnP devices and my server is located in a separate room with all the other technical stuff (NAS, Telephone, Printer, etc.). Streaming audio and video files is no problem, I'm using a Twonky Media Server for this but I want also to have life TV available and I want to have streaming access to all recorded videos on the Media Center. I have also some older TV and the uPnP Boxes are alle equiped with a standard SCART interface to connect it to older TV. Using a PC you need to have some kind of video out for the old TV and the signal quality isn't as good as from boxes. Gerald |
