Hi Everybody,

I have not found a way to automatically update my EPG overnight.

I'm in New Zealand and use the xmlTNNZ guide which has everything I need and updates manually flawlessly. I use a batch (bat) file to execute an exe file to do this by simply double clicking the shortcut it on my desktop.

I have noticed in another post that activating settings in the EPG tab of Powerscheduler has caused issues with timeshifting, watching TV and swapping between channels on MyTV, so I'm not using this and have actually tried it before realising the issues mentioned previously, but it never worked.

I also notice there are settings in the xml Plugin to execute a daily upload, but the settings appear to point towards a built in product or retrieval directly from a website, which is not the way xmlTVNZ works I believe. I have followed setup instructions using reven.co.nz.

Any help or comments on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Graham

See you have asked in the kiwi post for help with this, that's probably the best place, some very knowledgeable guys there, who should be able to give you exact guide to set this up.

Hi Paranoid Delusion,

It's not a good guide that's the issue here as xmlTVNZ is perfect, but it's more that I do not have an automatic download routine that works with Powerscheduler and MPStandbyHandler.

Graham

Would this work in conjunction with xmlTVNZ, Powerscheduler and MPStandbyHandler?

fixed

Hi All,

Been a bit disappointed with getting no response on my issue, but in the end I worked it out.

In the "bat" file you create to download xmlTVNZ, I had to put the path of the "xmlTVNZ.exe file, otherwise Powerscheduler doesn't specifically know where to look to execute it. The shortcut worked because the "bat" file was in the same place as the "xmlTVNZ.exe" file.

In my case, I had all the files in C:\Program Files\TVNZ directory, so my "bat" file looks like this:

"c:\Program Files\TVNZ\xmlTVNZ.exe" tvguide.xml -days 8 tvnzfv_tv1 tvnzfv_tv2 tvnzfv_tv3 tvnzfv_c4 tvnzfv_tvnz6 tvnzfv_tvnz7 tvnzfv_tvnzsportextra tvnzfv_parliamenttv tvnzfv_maori tvnzfv_tvcentral default_prime default_juice

All you need to do then is put the "bat" file in the command box of the Powerscheduler EPG grabber task and it works. This also means you don't have to worry about the Task Scheduler task and it's all in 1 place.

Cheers

Graham
