I have all my channels appear in the TV server management console ok. There are 240 channels. I have left the channels in the default ‘All Channels’ group.

I can go into MedaiPortal and watch TV channels fine. I can change to any channel in group by entering the channel number. (The number that appears next to the channel in the TV server management console.)

So, I want to change the channel numbers to match my TV line up. To do this I go into the TV server management console and select TV channels. If I click on a channel once, it lets me change the number.

The problem is that if I enter a number that is bigger the than the total number of channels (in my case >240) the channel disappears!

If I edit another channel and then press cancel the channel comes back but it is still showing its original number.

Is it possible to change the channel number to what ever I want or am I stuck with channel numbers that are just within the range ‘1 to maximum number channels’?

I would really appreciate a response to this as I think Media Portal is great and would really love to solve this issue.

Thanks
Red

Why don't you try using the up and down buttons?

Why would I do that? I want to change the channel numbers to match my TV line up. For example a channel may appear in the channel set up as number '220', but it's channel number from my provider is '401'.

I want to change the channel number to '401', not just move it up & down the list.

but when you move it up until it reaches 401, then the channel will be on the 401 place and so matching your TV.

Or am I completely wrong and missing the point?

I think the problem is that he has gaps in his channel numbers. So he only has say 240 channels but some of them have numbers > 240. So he can not just change the order of the channels to make them match the channel numbers...

Tried SQL Server Management Studio but no good.

I found the dbo.channel table and made changes to some data in the sort order field. Same issue as before, changes are fine as long as the number I enter does not exceed the total number of channels. If I put a higher number in then when I open SetupTV, the sort number just changes back.
