fixed client plugin hangs MP

MediaPortal Version: SVN 0.2.1.0 build 11428
Windows Version: Windows XP SP2
CPU Type: Intel Celeron M 1.5Ghz
HDD: Seagate 200Gb SATA-II
Memory: 1024MB DDR2 PC5300
Motherboard: AOpen i915Mm-HFS
Motherboard Chipset: Intel 915GM, Intel ICH6-M
Motherboard Bios: Award PnP 4Mb Flash ROM BIOS
Video Card: Onboard Intel Graphics
Sound Card: Azalia Codec on-Board embedded S/PDIF (ALC880) 7.1 Audio
TV Card: Hauppauge Nova-T 500
TV Card Type: DVB-T

tv server SVN 11429

have installed everything as per instructions... tv server set up and channels found etc

installed the client plugin.. and every time MP loads it hands on "loading windows plugins" for ages.. then the splash screen clears and nothign else happens. cpu sits at 100% until i force quit the task.

remove the client plugin and MP loads find again.

any ideas?

server and client are on the same PC.

Not shure if this is needed when both server and client are on same pc, but i had similar problem over the lan, and my problem were that i had not started the SQL browser service.

If for whatever reason a client has used a different server and that server is not available then I have noticed a similar affect.

The only way to correct was to edit the mediaportal.xml file on the client and at the very end of the file you will see the server address. Change it for the correct address .

I would have presumedd that the client would time out in the above situation and then offer the user to input a new address when entering MyTv.

mines is a fresh install.. never had the server/client installed before.

as far as i could see the SQL database was running... i could browse it using the studio express app.

i also just checked the XML file.. and the hostname is correct.

Are you sure you can resolve the name of your server - try the IP address or ping your servers name.

Opps I should read more carefully...

Try SVN 11439 - I just tried the same SVN as you tried and got the same result. the latest svn seems to have fixed it.

Are all SQL services running.

I had to manualy start the 'SQL server browser' service, and switch it to 'auotmatic' for clients to connect.

ok i now have the plugin running fine...

however i keep getting "unable to connect to tv server"
have tried both IP address and host name.

i have the tv server console running in the background... both SQL services are "running".

what's going on now ?

also.. should tvserver be starting automatically?
every time i click on the "MediaPortal TV Server" icon.. is says "tv server service not running"
does the server config window have to be open for the server to be running ?
