Country: | TV-Server Version: RC2 MediaPortal Version: RC2 I had some problem with the main installation of Mediaportal and reinstalled it (uninstall first). I left the TV-server alone, since it worked ok. Now MP is installed again it seems that MP doens't know that I'm using the TV-server. The TV-server manual says that when you first startup MP and start the TV plugin, you should fill in the name of the TV-server. I didn't get that option, it just started the tv plugin with no channels available. Is there a way to connect MP and the TV-server again. Or do I have to install to whole bounce in one go? |

Country: | You need to use custom install and select the TVClient plugin, then you should be good to go.

Country: | Where can I select custom install? Do you mean, when I install MP? I choose custom when I installed MP, I choose the full install and the setup itself noticed that the TV-server was already installed and didn't need to be installed again. So this means I have to reinstall MP again? And this time only install the client version? |

Country: | I just tried this running the MP installer again, selecting HDTV and watch TV, the installer then recognised the existing RC2 install, missing client plugin and installed only this, leaving all settings intact, You of course need to start TVServer (TVServer config icon), and input the password "MediaPortal"

Country: | I did the setup again. Choose TV> HDTV> advanced/custom install (my version is dutch so don't know the exact name of this option)> install client only. I then get a list of things the setup is going to do. After all the steps it says "finished" before I've pressed install, when I push the install button nothing happens except the installation is finished screen appears. Did I mention I have a single seat setup? So the server is on the same pc as the client, does this matter? |

Country: | TV still doesn't work. MP doesn't even list the channels, so MP and TV-server still don't know of each others existence. Is it possible that MP is set to the old TV-plugin? My tv-card was listed in the MP config, removed because it shouldn't be there. Can I manually set it to a TV-server in some .xml file? Last edited by erik070; 2008-09-30 at 12:52. |

Country: | Yep, if you're tv card was listed in the MP config then it is definitely using the old tv plugin as the new one completely replaces the tv section in the config. What you should have is the ability to set the TV server to use in the config, if you haven't got this then you're still using the old tv plugin and you'll have to try installing the client plugin separately or re-installing again I'm afraid.

Country: | Did a reinstall of MP and the TV-server. Now it works. TV plugin in MP config lets me set the TV-server name. So if I reinstall MP only, I should select client only in the setup. Didn't test it, but should work then. Last edited by erik070; 2008-10-01 at 09:59. |
