Country: | as usual coming back to the problem the next day fresh has helped I deleted the TvLibrary database file and got into tvserver config, and can now run mp. but... I can record tv to disc and watch the ts file in vlc no worries, but mp won't let me watch live tv or watch recorded files, i'll work this out tomorrow night. getting closer. thanks for the help so far guys, much appreciated. mp really does look like the answer to my problems, wife acceptance, when it comes to pc's my wife is a dumb blonde, combining a pc and tv has been the cause of some tension shall we say. |

| Portal User | link1896, The "failed to create database" error appears maybe... because the database already exists and therefore it cannot be created again. One reason for that is that even if you uninstall SQL Server, the database you created will still remain in data subfolder, as the uninstall process of Windows is not complete. You do not see it under SQL Server management console, but it is still there... To clean up, you need to go in Programmes\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data and check. If it is there, well... the best (what I did) is to complete SQL Server uninstallation by removing all Microsoft SQL Server folders and sub-folders and then re-install SQL Server. Then you will of course need to reinstall TV Server, but that is a snap... If TVLibrary DB is not there, you may want to have a look at Logs folder under Programmes\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\, there are ERRORLOG files worth reading... Hope it helps, good luck, Alexis. |

Country: | Same error here, with RC3 and MysQL. All fixed, but just to let you know: In the TVServer configuration I changed the database name to mediaportal-rc3. The dash in the database name made the SQL statements to error out. (See C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\log\tv.log for the SQL errors). TV configuration can't start and you can't change your database name anymore. To change database name: Open a text editor and find your database name in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\Gentle.config. Remove the dash, save and start TV configuration again. You might want to review permissions on the database server first. |
