I've got a few issues with the TV-Server setup.

CPU Usage:
Recording with all 5 tuner cards (see specs above):
- MP standard - CPU usage of 36%
- MP TV-Server - CPU usage of 78%
Is this normal behaviour for the TV-Server to use that much of the CPU?

Renaming of Channels
After scanning both analog and digital channels with the TV-Server the manual option in the TV-Server control/setup window works fine. When you select a channel for time shifting all works fine and all details about card, channel, signal strength etc. get displayed above the time shift button, recording can be selected and time shifting can be stopped.

As soon as you rename a channel, the following happens; When you hit the time shift button nothing is displayed above the butten (signal strength etc.), the window below indicates the server started time shifting, you can't select record and the time shift button does not change to stop timeshifting. The only way to stop time shifting is by stopping and starting the server.

This happens with both analog and digital channels, also with combined analog/digital channels.

I managed to repeat the problem on one of my other MP HTPC's which has only an analog tuner card

And I managed to repeat this on again another of my MP HTPC's (I have 4 MP pc's) which has a dual DVB-T tuner

I've tried with a clean windows and MP install, same problem.

I've tried manually editing the channel names in the database, same problem.

Starts to look like a bug.

Frodo,

Tried restarting, but did not help.

After scanning an anolog channel I get this:
(See attachment "channels.jpg")

When I go to the Manual control option in the TV-server, using channel "3", I get this:
(See attachment "Original channel name.jpg")
all works fine, both in TV-server and TV-Client.

When I rename channel "3" to "ABC", then the following happens:
(See attachment "new channel name.jpg")
Now you can't select record or stop timeshifting. In the client you can change channels, but you can't record.
As you can see in the screen shot, although the channel is renamed to "ABC" it still shows up as "3" under the time shift button.

As soon as you change the name of the channel back to the original name, everything goes back to normal, even without restarting the TV-Server, and you can start/stop time shif and record with both TV-Server and Client.

This is the same for both analog and DVB-T channels.

Hi!
could you please attach all logfiles which were created when you reproduced the posted issues?

Hi,
I have the exact same issue (Renaming of Channels) as guytpetj, will update to latest version & attach logs to it.

If you need to have that working, open "SQL Server Management Studio Express" & Databases -> TVLibrary -> dbo.TuningDetail & open tables & then rename the "name" to the same as you have in dbo.Channel "name"

Regards
Roy

I followed ronilse's advice about renaming the "name" field in the dbo.TuningDetail table, and this fixed the problem. TV-Server working like a dream now.

Looks like the "name" field in the dbo.TuningDetail table is not updated when you edit/change the channel name in the TV-Server configuration program.

I've found that whenever I change the name of the channel (or change any other tuning details) in the tv server, the bandwith automatically changes to 8mhz (I'm in Australia, so it should be 7mhz) so MP is no longer able to tune the channel. Perhaps this is part of the same issue you are having (although I imagine it would only affect DVB-T)?
