fixed FloppyDTV-S2, TV-server, can't find any channels.

TV-Server Version: TVE3 30/10
MediaPortal Version: SVN 30/10
MediaPortal Skin: Not relevant
Windows Version: Windows XP MCE 2005
CPU Type: P4 Dual Core 6700 or there abouts.
HDD: 1.5TB
Memory: 4GB
Motherboard: Asus
Motherboard Chipset: Some Intel chipset
Motherboard Bios: Can't remember
Video Card: ATI 2600HD
Video Card Driver: Latest official
Sound Card: Audigy 2
Sound Card AC3: yes...
Sound Card Driver: Latest official
1. TV Card: FloppyDTVS2
1. TV Card Type: S2
1. TV Card Driver: Latest official
TV: Samsung 40" LCD & Sony AW15 Projector
TV - HTPC Connection: DVI->VGA on both

Card appears to be recognized in TVE3, but on channel scan, no channels can be found, and the scan seems to freeze or crash. I can still control other parts of the server, and close it, but if I reopen and try a new scan, there's no progress at all.

My setup is a simple 4x1 Diseqc with .8w, 5e, 19.2e and 28.2(?)e (sky, bbc etc).

To illustrate: Yesterday evening, I tried a scan. TV-server started scanning. On most transponders getting "no signal" and on the other "nothing found". It spent nearly an hour working with just my first LNB before appearing to crash/stop on transponder 50 (AFAICR). I can see signal strength going from low to high to low etc. so it appears to at least get some sort of signal.

In DVBViewer I can scan just fine and get all the channels I am supposed to get, but I'd really like to try MP instead.

Can anybody shed some light on this?

Hey try the latest TVServer SVN - 31/10
This was a problem with the last few builds but I can confirm that it is now fixed in the latest one.

That's great news. I'll try the 31/10 build when I get home from work. Thanks for that superfast reply mate, and wish me luck

Thanks again mate. That fixed my biggest issue. Now I just need to find updated transponderlists and figure out why HD-channels don't work

Have you found something about HD channels and Mediaportal?

In FireDTV Viewer you have to add following:
25=11421,H,25000,23,6,1
26=11434,V,25000,23,6,1

In tuningparameters for Mediaportal TV Server you have:
21=11421,H,25000,23,S2
22=11434,V,25000,23,S2

If i add those settings in FireDTV (you have to add it manually, Digital Everywhere has been informed about that)
i watch HD channels without any problems... But those settings is really hard use in Mediaportal/TV Server.. I have tried almost every combination i can think about... without any success...

@nyogtha and crimz:

You both are using the FloppyDTV-S2. I have a question for you:
Is the FloppyDTV-S2 still working reliably after standby/hibernate? That means, is it possible in 100% of the cases after standby/hibernate to watch free-to-air and scrambled channels? I read about some "no signal" problems after standby/hibernate and this is currently my concern. Otherwise I would buy one...

Sorry, i cannot help you there... My htpc is always on 24/7...

My experience with Digital Everywheres support is good, they listen to your demands and want to know about problems/solutions...

Its a good card, but i really miss oportunity to scan scandinavian hd channels... (Mediaportal problem)

I am back to using my Dreambox and CD HD tuner combo for now. I just couldn't get MP (or dvbviewer for that matter) to run stable enough for me to be happy with it. I will keep trying of course.

crimz:

I managed to tune in the scand. HD channels (exept Silver HD) by changing these lines to this:

16=11341,V,24500,8psk,78,on,0.35,S2
19=11389,H,24500,8psk,78,on,0.35,S2
21=11421,H,25000,8psk,23,on,0.35,S2
22=11434,V,25000,8psk,23,on,0.35,S2

Does MP really run 100% on your HTPC? Decodes all channels it should decode, doesn't crash while zapping etc? I don't understand what's so different about my setup

Hi,

Thanks for this info,... !!!IT worked THANKS ALOT!!!
(Now its the time to find a codec that will show the picture, but it tuned the channels nicely)

Well, i have been thinking for this a while, really frustrating... Sometimes things work really well and stable... NO problem what so ever... and then a reinstall and small changes in hardware.... nothing is stable..

Like my system last week, i had 1 FloppyDTV-S2, and used my internal soundcard... Then the system was stable with subtitles... I was using ATI Avivo Codec and CCCP only.... Almost never crash, small problems with channel change.. (This is adressed to subtitles)

This week i installed my second FloppyDTV-S2, and my Creative XFI-Fatal1ty soundcard... That was i nightmare...
Drivers and everything as working like a charm, but integrate this with Mediaportal was a nightmare... The sound, dissapeard, the picture froze, problem changing channels, it was so ustable that i coundnt use it...This was with ATI Avivo and CCCP... But then i got the idea to test Cyberlink PoweDVD 7.3, and everything went "rockstable"..
Have noone of this problems mentioned, zapping is much faster... And the picture is acceptable... And the hardware decoding of everything works well...

So my conclusion is, you have to try out a lot of codecs, some will work nice with your system, some will not work..
I have to this point good experience with standard Avivo+cccp+AC3Filter and Cyberlink+CoreAVC+AC3Filter

(And now i have problems with codec for HD channels, but that is a minor problem (i really hope)....)

16=11341,V,25000,8psk,23,on,0.35,S2

hope this works for others to...
