Hi, I am fairly new to MediaPortal and need some help... I just installed the mediaportal/tvserver RC1 and was trying to follow the instructions from above. All is well until I execute the webepg.exe. When i execute it... nothing happens. Neither the tvguide.xml or the temp file ever get created. The error log says..
File not found: H:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\WebEPG\WebEPG.xml
Any suggestions of what to do next?

OK...
I neglected to mention that i was using the newer version of webepg-conf.exe that was posted earlier.
I have discovered for some reason that version does not create the webepg.xml file.
But when i revert to the older file (the one that WON'T import from the tv server) the xml is created.
Am I missing something here?
I guess I will try to just manually type in all the channel info using the older version of webepg-conf.exe and see what happens.

Dan, you beat me to it - I was just going to mention the fact that the new webepg-conf.exe does NOT create the webepg.xml file! The older one does create the file but of course doesn't allow you to conveniently import channels from TV Server... Anyway, the more this is brought up, the more attention it will get and a solution should soon follow!

That would be all good and well if it was posted in its own thread and not burried in another thread on a different topic.

Please look to see if the config file is here:

-> C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\WebEPG

OK ....

The new version of webepg-conf.exe ( seperate download from RC1 ) would not create the needed webepg.xml file. So here's what I did ....

After editing the grabber file ( which for me grabs from IMDb | IMDbTV ) to match my location ....
I used the old version of webepg-conf.exe ( included in RC1 ) ....
manually added the channels then saved them .....
the webepg.xml file was created successfully .....
I then ran webepg.exe ....
after about 10 mins the tvguide.xml file was created ....
then used the xmltv plugin for the tvserver to import from tvguide.xml ....
started mediaportal ....
then Bingo all was working!

You didn't answer my question?

Did the new version of WebEPG-conf.exe create a webepg.xml file in the above provided location?

Since RC1 changes have been made to both Webepg and Webepg-conf to move all its files to the Application Data directory.

James

Vista 32 WebEPG.xml does now use above program data\webepg folder path, this is using yesterdays svn 19069, if you use the previous webepg.exe\config (svn19010) it does not, saves to program files\webepg folder

So it looks like the paths have changed between last svn and this current svn for me with no other changes made.

ps it does now work fine.

Yes, I just confirmed that the file does get created here: \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\WebEPG\WebEPG.xml. This is on a Windows XP machine.

And thank you James for moving this topic to a new thread - I had only posted in the other because that was where you had placed the updated WebEPG-conf.exe file, and I figured you'd be watching it - and you were.

...and now that we know where WebEPG.xml gets created...

\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\WebEPG\WebEPG.xml

...how do we get WebEPG.exe to to look to this path and reference WebEPG.xml so it can properly create TVGuide.xml in the XMLTV folder? Aside from updating to the latest SVN, as PD alluded it works there...

That is the only way of getting it working, install the svn, if using TVServer make sure when the remove settings warning comes up, hit the no button and it will uninstall but leave your settings intact, ready to reinstall itself.
