fixed Problem connecting to db on setuptv install

MediaPortal Version: MediaPortal-svn--03-15-2007--01-06-Rev13416.exe
tvserver Version: tvengine3-03-15-2007--01-16h--Rev13416.zip
Windows Version: XP SP2

Followed the tvserver FAQ steps to install MS SQl Server 2005, configure firewall etc. When I run setuptv.exe and then press the test button, I get "Connection Failed! Login failed for user 'sa' "

My sqlserver and browser service are running and I'm stumped as to why I cannot connect to the db. I don't have a tvservice file in my SQL server data directory. Any ideas?

Cheers,
Ronin

I know the sample pictures in the FAQ said 'sa' both as username and password. When I installed some hours ago I couldn't set 'sa' ass password but was forced to have a more complex password. Could it be that you entered another password than 'sa'?

Hmmm, I don't recall setting any password. I thought sa/sa was a default account that exists after the SQL installation?

That was how my installation looked like. I might have messed around somewhere, but the result was a working connection.

UPDATE: I made a re-install now and I suspect that you missed the correct settings in "Authentication mode" in the wiki:

[quote]
Authentication mode

* The next screen is important!!!
* Choose mixed mode and fill in a password for the sql server administrator account
* Write down the password, we will need it later on!
