Default Stop button doesn't work with fullscreen with TVClient

When pressing the default button for playback stop "b" in fullscreen when watching TV with TVClient nothing happens. If I go back to EPG view or TVHome view, playback stops when "b" is pressed. I think the same behaviour goes when watching recorded TV. For example "space" as pause button works as it should.

I think this problem has existed (at least for me) as long as the TVClient has been available. Currently I'm using 1.0 RC1 SVN 19127 (ignore specs in my profile) in multiseat configuration.

Any ideas?

Done by design, no bug

The Developers decided if you stopped fullscreen TV, what would you be left with, blank screen, so its better to go back to some sort of menu which you can see you are in, especially if you are then going to use another function, ie play video or music etc.

If you have finished altogether, power button is still effective (works mce remote here) for standby in live TV.

Umm, wouldn't the expected behaviour be that when stop is pressed in fullscreen mode, playback stops and TVHome view is shown to user? I think it's way more better than "nothing happens"

By design and for a good reason.

Why would you want the ability to loose your whole Timeshift buffer by acident if you hit the stop button while viewing fullscreen.

By navigating to any sub-screen the stop button is enabled which infers the users intentions are not geared to viewing only and the protection of the timeshift buffer as in fullscreen.

My point being that the current behaviour is not what the "normal" user would expect.

The normal user shouldn't have to know and understand what is the magic behind timeshifting and how it depends on users actions.

For advanced users your explanation sounds reasonable enough, although hitting some button "by accident" and side effects caused by it imo shouldn't be a reason for this kind of behaviour.

If losing the timeshift buffer should be prevented, a dialog box confirming the playback stop (and explaining that the timeshifting will be lost) should be sufficient. For those who know what they are doing, this confirm dialog could be disabled for good.

As an advanced and normal user I feel that it is my duty to report this kind of misleading behaviour and suggest improvements

Hi everyone,

I agree to what seco says. I would also like to use the stop button in fullscreen TV. At least if you want to hibernate your system it would be one click less. It's not too uncomfortable the way it is, but it would be nice to have the stop button working, though.
A blank screen would indeed be bad, imho the view should switch to the my tv menu.

Regards,
Sepp.

Read my post, power button (enabled on remote\keyboard) will send to standby\hibernate even with fullscreen TV running.

Well what about the problem that SciDoctor just described above with the stop button?

If user presses "by accident" the power button, not only the timeshifting will be lost but the whole system shuts down..
